Wickes delivered 8 bags of compost, 4 of gravel, 30 smallish slabs (to the front door).

Asked the three blokes to carry it the 35-ish metres to the bottom of the garden, which they did.

Lobbed them £30 (not each!) for the humping, which took about 15 minutes.

Got the impression that they didn’t see it as a ‘good’ tip.

Saddens me.

What do others think? (Of the tip, not my melancholy disposition).

Hello Peter.

What?
£10 is loose change to the younger generation.
Maybe they were just a bit surprised that you gave them a tip at all. £30 is quite a good tip in my books .
An excellent tip IMO
sounds like a good tip to me, most give them sweet FA.
Well done Allen.
£1 a minute each. (£60 an hour, £2,400 a week)
Sounds ok to me. Perhaps you misread the expression of being astounded at such a generous tip ?
shedman may be right, we always tip the ASDA man ( can't afford Waitrose Allen) and often they look surprised.

I do hope it was, as we’ve always tried to pay the rate, and reward extra service.
yes easily
is short for
yes give a tip
firty knicker is easily sufficient
should have slipped them a tea bag saying 'have a drink on me later'
I never tip
The only tip I ever give is "Look both ways before crossing the road".
'Always steep your peas on Friday night' is a good tip
Generous.
I'm a soft touch, I tip our postie and binmen each Christmas and why not, they do a really good job
Will be avoiding work for Bobbi if I know I will be getting peas for my tip.
Tips? Don't eat yellow snow and don't try to eat soup with a fork.
Ken.. Your soup is in need of some 'Body'.
