Do butchers and supermarkets always keep fresh turkeys in or would I have to pre-order, what do you think?

You are probably right woof - isn't the Waitrose essential range their bargain range, bit like Tesco value, ie not best quality?
yes Prudie. Got to say I prefer Sainsbury's frozen turkey to Waitrose and Marks and Sparks over both if I can get it
Why not buy a large, free-range corn-fed chicken instead? It will be a lot tastier than dreary and dry turkey. By the way Waitrose Essential stuff is the same quality as Tesco's Finest range and nothing like the low quality cheapo Tesco stuff.

Because we want to re-create a family Christmas and we would never have had chicken. If I cant get a turkey I'd rather get a good rib of beef :-)
Go for the rib of beef then!
