Theres been a few posts recently about veganism/plant based diets.
I'm always experimenting with different diets, foods and stuff.
Has anybody here tried a meat free diet for any length of time?

I didn't eat meat from 8 years old to 21. I only started again because I was breastfeeding and would eat anything that was still for long enough :-)
When I was a teenager for 18 months
We usually eat meat free a couple of times a week, which is very easy, and we find it rather nice.
Incidentally Nailit, glad to see you you seem to be feeling better.

Cheers Sam, onwards and upwards.... :-)
Well, Nailit, this year it will be 40 years since I ate any meat or fish - I reckon that's quite a length of time!
1986 was the last time I ate meat and 1989 was the last time I ate fish. OH is vegetarian too, and for anyone who wonders what we eat, we had cauliflower, leek, tomato, bean and nut sauce on pasta this evening!
I'd like to go meat free. However, nuts and pulses play havoc with my digestive system :-/
I've never actively excluded anything from my diet , I can however happily eat meat or fish free dishes.

I love 99% of vegetables.
I went vegetarian for two years. I wouldn't eat anything with a face. Unfortunately I gained over two stones in weight. My job was extremely physical and I needed a lot of strength, I acquired the protein by eating lots of nuts and cheese, hence the two stone gain. Eating meat and fish returned my stamina but the weight never left, just bought some more weight as company.
I'm the same weight as when I last ate meat
Yes...didn't eat meat for years and I'm still not a big meat eater. I eat a lot of seafood though.

I don't know if it's had any affect on my weight.
Don't eat much red meat..chicken, fish and pork mainly...would miss bacon..Not so much the rest, but not so inclined..
I have the odd veggie meal, I like them, but love meat too.
The other people who eat here also love meat. I don't know why I'm not keen. I dish it up on my plate but usually give it away. I do like a burger though but only eat them at the airport...so once or twice a year.
I tried being a vegetarian in my early 30's and stuck at it for a few years, it was turkey dinners at Christmas that was my downfall.
