my friend was talking tody about how she'd been looking for blancmange mix, which prompted a whole convo about "retro" food - food that you haven't eaten for aaaaages.
I'll add: evaporated milk; tinned steri-cream

For some bizarre reason, the manufacturers discontinued the (lovely) Vesta Beef Risotto but carried on producing the (revolting) Vesta Beef Curry. (Asda sell it, along with the Chow Mein & Paella varieties).

I somtimes eat sliced bananas with custard (but I prefer them with ice cream).
Did your mum do spam fritters, marvel? Thin slices of potato either side of a slice of spam, dipped in batter and deep-fried in lard. Yummy when I was in my teens, it was a favourite supper for 5 or 6 hungry 15 yr-olds. I could just fancy it now.:)

Proper Devon thick yellow clotted cream. I believe it was banned because of the FSA.

I make a mean prawn cocktail, maizie. Not very often these days but I made it last week. (Mr. J2 loves it!)

Corned beef yum - mixed with mashed potato, shaped into patties and fried lightly.
Crosse + Blackwell vegetable soup
Frozen sponge cake filled with jam and cream
porridge served with condensed milk
big shredded wheats for breakfast.

a slice of swiss roll with custard on it for pudding
angel delight banana flavour served with sliced bananas.
vesta meals
instant whip, all flavours.
Bournvita or a cup of Milo to drink at bedtime.
Bread and milk for supper.
Heinz tinned sponge puddings for afters with custard.
Tilly2 you are the first person I have heard mention savoury ducks. That's what they were called when I lived up north. But down here they are faggots.
No one down here believes me when I tell them about savoury ducks.
