Is it ok to make soup without cream? Does it taste watery?

I have lots and lots (and lots) of veg, so I was thinking this would be a good idea to use it up.

What soups can be made without cream, does anyone do this?

Virtually any, if you don't have premade stock then use cubes, season well and it won't be watery. x

Thanks MM. Lots of good ideas and tips here :-)
Let me guess honeydip...it's one of your own recipes?
I like the sound of adding a tin of condensed soup to home-made soup. Would thicken it up a treat and add extra taste. I'll have a go at that.
Actually, thinking about it, I often add powdered cup-a-soup to my home made-soups. Same thing as adding condensed, I guess.
A big Thank You Mrs Chappie - fantastic if you are making a large pot
If you make a home made soup from scratch Mrs. Chappie you shouldn't need to add a tinned soup....it surely defeats the whole point of making a home made soup in the first place?
The whole point of making home made food is cutting out the processed cr@p that we eat today.
My God one wee skittery tin of soup will not defeat the purpose of a large pot of beautiful veggie soup of a Saturday with warm baps for your friends. Get a grip

Mrs Chappie let me know if you ever do it and tell me what you think.
I'm a purist and really can't understand the need to add tins and packets to enhance a delicious homemade pot of soup.

If you need to add artificial additives then you need to look at your basic soup making skills.

"get a grip"

Why are you being so rude? People are only giving their opinions.
"Get a grip" if that comment is to me...I would like you to explain?
The point (for me) in making a home-made soup, is always to use up a glut of vegetables. Anything I can add to make it tastier gets the thumbs-up from me.

I also freeze any leftovers (wine/gravy/meat/veg) from meals, then it all goes into my home-made soup. Nothing gets wasted in this house.

I'm out...... Hope your soup turns out OK MM xx
My motto is, if it makes it taste better, bung it in. It works for me.

Thanks Mazie, and thanks to everyone else who's contributed to this thread and my original question.

...including Talbot and his amusing video.
Ah yes, Mick. I also chuck in any leftover pasta. Lovely.
So did you make soup today? Or is this for tomorrow?
Question Author
Lol yes I did make it after all this! I made carrot and coriander. Had a little taste, seemed tasty.
I already had dinner sorted though, so I've put it in the freezer for tomorrow. I'll see what that's like and then make some more. I've got quite a large box of veg, so I'll just bung some stuff together with plenty of seasoning and hope for the best :-)
