How are the basics tea and coffee made?

I have rarely done so and don't drink either myself.

Hmmm, if you have rarley made them, you must of at some point made them! Oh well, this is how you make them:

Tea - Put a teabag in a mug/cup and pour in boiling water. Add salt, vinegar and pepper to taste.

Coffee - Put 7 teaspoons of fresh coffee into a mug/cup and pour in boiling water.  Add tomato sauce, lime juice and corn flour to taste.

dick cheese ur mean !! lol !

tea- put a tea bag in a mug , add some hot water just below the brim, then add one tea spoon of sugar or as many as you like then add abit of milk so it goes a beige creamy colour! stir well.

coffee- put about 2 tea spoons of coffee in a mug, add some hot water just below the brim, if you like it sweet add some suger and then just add milk.

Depends if you mean real or instant coffee.  I never drink instant but real is a more laborious process and varies according to the type of machine.

Instant Coffee - milk should be added before the boiling water (you don't want to burn those little coffee granules do you???) But I guess this could be debated along with which way round is the correct way for toilet rolls!

let's start the old tea debate then...

i always put the milk in before the water!

I dont like tea only ever had a thing for it when I was pregnant.  Please God I wont be drinking tea again.
Great answer Peri, but how does that help answer this question?  I dont like cucumber, but dont feel the need to tell everyone!! I think my wife likes cucumber though, she takes one to bed every night!
The thing about cucumbers Dick Cheese is that there are certain attributes - lets call them vitamins - with the cucumber that you wife may not be able to get/achieve with other  .......................... foods.

For instant coffee, I put four spoonfuls in as I like it medium-strong, (two to three is fine if the person likes weak coffee) and put the milk in before the hot water so not to scald the coffee.

Speaking of hot water, if you don't make tea / coffee often, don't waste your money on one of those kettle things - water straight out of the hot tap will be fine - and most people will appreciate the fact that it is at the correct drinking temperature without having to hang around for ages waiting for it to cool down. It's said to improve the flavour too.

Does nobody know how to use a teapot anymore? I do!

Hot water from the tap? Bags dangled in cups??? No wonder you lot don't enjoy your tea!!

I make tea in a pot with loose tea several times a day, and am often complimented on it. Dangling a bag in a cup is expensive apart from anything else, each bag is supposed to make two cups, not just one & be chucked.

So, my recommendation is to use a pot, or a jug, and pour freshly boiling water on your tea or tea bags. Purists always heat the pot first. Allow to infuse for about three minutes, then stir, and strain or pour into the cup.

The most refreshing drink in the world, winter or summer!

Solarjunkie,

AT LAST,someone else with standards!

Thanks a lot for the answers

Solarjunkie, my comment about 'hot water from the tap' was tongue-in cheek (in fact the whole post was taking the pss).

I hardly have time for tea in the mornings, but my teapot is used every weekend morning - there is nothing nothing better than waking to a nice pot of Assam.
Oh, and a nice pot of tea (darjeeling) and crumpets on a wet Sunday afternoon can not be beaten.
