I was allways told hen finished a meal I should leave my knife & fork together in the center of the plate pointing away from myself. This way the waiter would know I am finished. Is this still considered good manners. As I see most people now a days leaving cuterlery just strewn all over the plate.
Thank you
My lot ask if they may leave the table.
They are fed up with me saying they can't take it with them. Also knives and forks are put together.
It's also nice when they say 'thanks mum' after they've eaten.
Start with the basics...please and thank you, decent table manners, respect authority and adults and you're 3/4 of the way to having a well balanced, decent child
I never seem to have to worry about where to put my knife and fork, by the time I have finished licking my plate clean the waiter is usually stood beside me.
My brother(who was an adult at the time) had the charming habit of leaving his USED knife and fork by the left and right side of the plate on the table! My mum used to go nuts at him and the poor table cloth seemed to get washed an awful lot.Brothers... at least he has finally changed his habits.
