I do online banking with the Bank of Scotland and it's safe. Annoying if the site goes down and you need to use it though! Apart from that, it's excellent :-)
Yes - I'm with Halifax and Coop - both excellent
I've been doing online banking for several years now. The only time I go into my bank is when I need cash fo the canteen or oyster card top up.

thanx erin-x, so can you do all things you would normally do in a high st bank? set up standing orders.
Question Author
correction, eg set up standing orders?
I've been internet banking for years and never had a problem.
You can do nearly all the things you could do in a branch, setting up standing orders and making payments etc is no problem...

Making cash withdrawals is a bit tricky using online banking.
Yes, seems safe, and easy to use (Halifax).
I'm not certain about setting up standing orders. I would check but i'm on my phone and don't get the full site. You can transfer between accounts and check direct debits and standing orders but I don't know about setting them up.
Yes piggy - we have several on-line accounts, you can do most things - transfer money, pay bills and credit cards, check your balances, set up standing orders, cancel direct debits, change passwords - and so on.

(The only thing we have to go to our branch for is to pay cash and cheques in - we find they don't reach our account if we stuff 'em in the USB port.)

The worst thing I've had go wrong is to forget my passwords, if you put the wrong one in more than 3 times it locks you out, then you have to phone them and they send new access data in the post.
i do. and have had no problems so far !

I have a HSBC on-line account and it has several layers of security.
Including a secure ID card that generates unique 6 digit codes that you need to login.
However even RSA has been hacked :-)
Have done online banking with Santander and Halifax for a few years and always found them to be perfectly secure. Good luck with yours.
and it almost goes without saying, ignore any emails asking you to re-enter all your details, as they have lost yours/need to reverify your account/blah blah
I've an on-line account with Nationwide. Never had any problems.
Yes. I much prefer it as everything is at your fingertips (excuse the pun) and there's no need to queue at the bank.
Do be careful though of scam emails that pretend to be from your bank.
Yes.
Barclays .. Barclaycard .. eBay .. Paypal.

Just make sure you keep system clean with decent AV and Malwarebytes.
I've got one with Lloyds TSB and never had any trouble (though I've never had one that operated *only* online).

Chuck's suggestion that cash withdrawals are difficult can be easily dealt with
