What a fix.Jim Moir was told by Clarkson it was probably Chromium he phoned his son in law who said he thought silver. Then having agreed Moir would take £32,000 Clarkson talked Moir into going for Silver. What a con.

Does this balance out yesterday's disappointment at Jimmy Carr or is it simply a extension of dissatisfaction with the programme overall.

I don't watch as you can tell.

I did not watch or comment on Jimmy Carr my comment was on the Ruby Murray question. This is more to do with the fact that. I believe that a ceiling is agreed with some of these contestants for the amount of money they can win.
What does it matter? The money goes to charity, so if a bit more goes to them than really should do in the normal show, it's no bad thing.
I'd like to.
me too...
Didn't see it but am trying to work out what the con could be here. Was the correct answer silver or chromium?
Question Author
Your missing the point Mozz.Jim Moir was asked what metal was added to Steel at 10% to create Stainless Steel. He asked JC who wasn’t 100% sure but thought it was Chromium they then rang is Son in Law who was a bit vague but thought from the options it was Silver. They rang another man who didn’t know at all. There then followed a time consuming conversation, presumably rehearsed, where Clarkson talks about Moir having to live with the fact if his Son in Law was correct. So incredibly Moir then changes his mind and moves from Chromium to Silver. He had reached a guaranteed £32,000 but I believe his charity was “robbed” of £32,000 by this nonsense.
;-(
Sport was silver the wrong answer? Then if Clarkson was aiming to rob the charity of £32k why did he suggest chromium first? Anyway the contestant had no idea so didn't lose out
So not sport. Maybe that autocorrect was influenced by 1ozzy!
GRUMPY, if it was fixed, why did Clarkson not give him the wrong answer straight away?

If it was fixed, what would have happened if the son-in-law had been 100% certain the answer was chromium or was he also part of the conspiracy?

Will you let us know when you have contacted Ofcom and what their response is?
most people know (?) that silver tarnishes so unlikely to be in "stainless" steel.
Why would it be fixed, what would be the point?
At the end of the day it is the contestant who makes the final choice. He could have secured the lower offer by saying "I'll take the money." No con involved.
You're right, I assumed you meant that Clarkson persuaded him to go for what was the correct answer. Yeah, I see your point.
Anybody who thought silver was added to steel to make it stainless should have gone home with nothing!
Question Author
I just think that £32,000 was the figure that was agreed beforehand. Also remember you all thought I was talking rubbish about Strictly but you’re all talking about it now.
Have you contacted Ofcom about your concerns?

If I’m wrong it looked bad.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Craig Charles (Red Dwarf/Corrie) does tonight, his new gameshow Moneybags or something seems ***, but one of my favourite scousers ever.
