At 7.30am on 1 July 1916 the Battle of the Somme began. Over 150,000 British Commonwealth servicemen lie buried in 250 military and 150 civilian cemeteries on the Somme. Six memorials to the missing commemorate by name over 100,000 whose graves are not known.

Awful waste of life ( on all sides)
I just dont think about it
German French and Russian casualties were greater ( yeah OK not many Russians fought on the somme)

Oh what a lovely war had a great effect on me

It shouldn’t of happened, yet it did. Will we ever learn?
Tears were not enough. RIP.
It certainly should not have happened, like the whole of the war.
