Sounds like he’s trying to divert giving the WC to Qatar ,to blaming the West ? What a D!ck !
//As a child I was bullied - because I had red hair and freckles, plus I was Italian so imagine.//

Well, he's safe from bullying on one score now at least. The red hair is no more! What a plonker!
they might not have a choice, but going on the news many have been killed whilst working there on the world cup sites and other projects, no compensation for their families and a resounding silence from those in authority. Just watch the news if you don't believe me.
I do believe you emmie
but I also believe many of the deaths were caused by the effects of the heat and exhaustion
no they weren't Johnny, but by shoddy work practices, one guy and probably many others, fell to his death when the high platform he was standing on gave way and he plummeted to his death.
I guess he's 'kind of ' correct when he says Europe has also been guilty of such crimes....but that's no excuse, which is what he's trying to do...make excuses. We live in a modern, and much more informed society. There no justification for medieval attitudes now. He's looking like an idiot.

I'm just lurking, waiting for johnny's next contribution.
// We live in a modern, and much more informed society //

Pity the world of Islam doesn't do likewise. Foolish man!
Like I said Naomi...medieval.
emmie I am not trying to justify the shoddy work practices but the fact that over 6500 died then the effects of heat stress has to be a main factor work very long hours in extreme heat will have detrimental health implications for anyone and those 6500 are only the deaths of immigrants from officially recognised countries illegals and unofficial immigrants have not been counted
Is he wrong? He's not right.
I guess he's 'kind of ' correct
islam liberal - oh come on - qatar doesnt like gays or booze. yes they are that liberal.

slavery is OK - one of the companions Baraka( She was an Abyssinian slave of Muhammad's parents), was a slave so slavery is OK

as for the recent massacre of the Yazdis - sun worshippers - well done on "Black Crows" ep 2 - they get buried alive.
he has a point

"How many of these European or Western business companies who earn millions from Qatar, billions, how many of them have addressed migrant workers' rights with the authorities?"

Good question.
I wrote a stiff email to the Beeb
saying that inter alia, when "Hasan el inmigrante" landed at Salubrenas and established the Al-Andaluus ( 700 something), he didnt exactly liberate that part of Spain.

There had been no empirical thought for a thousand year ( 1000 AD that is!) since el-ghazali skewered the idea in "the incoherence of the philosophers" - even tho it ( scientific thought) had been pre-eminent for 200y

not mimsy: strike out if you want.

what a trouble maker! Gianni of course, not me. Off wivviz head. Lash him before killing him !
the migrant workers had a choice
when in Rome ....they used slaves, so there is progress after all

no - economic migrants. mainly from Egypt. and they have famiklies to feed. Waiters on the Nile cruise ships get £100 a month which works out as ..... 30p an hour
What language was used to deliver the speech? It may have lost something in translation.
