I set up a standing order to pay my monthly rent and although the money left my account on the day of rent payment, it hasnt entered the landlord's (different bank to mine )account yet. Why is this?

When did it go out of your account?

If it was more than a few days ago then maybe the S/O was set up incorrectly.

If it was only yesterday or Thursday that it left your account then it may take until Monday to reach the landlord's account.

The money left my account yesterday, which is the day when rent is due and the day which the landlord instructed me to have the standing order set up for.
It can take anything up to a week for a standing order to reach the payee's account.
So don't start worrying yet !!
You need to set up the standing order to be in the LLs account on the rent due date not just to come out of your account. Allow 3 - 5 days.
especially in a different bank!
It will hit the LL bank account on the 3rd working day unless the receiving bank is part of the faster payment system. Then it would hit the same day.If I knew what bank the LL's was I caould tell you. as from May 2009 most banks will be part of it.
