After the House of Fraser pension pay out surprise the other month, my old pension with Scottish life from 2002 - 2004 wants to pay me back £1250.00. I only paid in about £144.00. excellent! Now I will have money to go and see Garth as well as buy the car!! yayyyy Apparently anyone over 55 with a dormant pension with less than £18.000 to pay out can get their money instead of waiting.

Hey, great stuff that, dot. What are you going to do with the dosh already in the Garth fund ?.
Interesting - but doesn't that mean you lose the pension income altogether after you retire?
Question Author
yes i lose it but they said it would be £46 a year! I'll take that now thank you, I'll not live 27 years to enjoy that £46 once a year
yes that is the case Dee Jay - so well done

Nice to hear that someone has done well out of pensions.

Do you remember pension holidays - and then ten years later the same firms who took the holidays said there was nt enough in the funds so you lot can all take a cut and we will keep ours (sort of)
Question Author
they said i could have £312.69 now and £34.53 a month in 8 years, £46.04 a year in 8 years and no lump sum, or the whole £1250.72 now, (less 20% f***** tax of course, )
Question Author
It was a no brainer really, the garth tickets and hotel and travel will be taken care of and if i live to 100 years old i'll always have that memory to keep me warm (though probably I won't know why lol )
Well, for those figures, I'd definitely take the lump sum!
Question Author
after I pay for the car on 30th november I will have £600.00 left to buy a big tele. : 0 If I'm going to retire in 8 years on buttons I best get a decent tele now that will last me into my dotage. Who says I don't plan ahead? lol
Question Author
*that was £34.53 a year not a month! that's less than a loaf of bread a week innit? lol
Yes. Good result. Enjoy!

I've got another one somewhere too, but I'll have to really track it down as it was with the old Yorkshire Building Society and I don't think they exist now, at least not in wigan where they used to be.
Take the lump sum and enjoy Dot, no pockets in shrouds.
