Onwards and Downwards Continues in March 2014

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Let's have some really new ideas about seasonal produce. Had a look here to find out what we should be eating in UK at this time:

Then found this yummy looking recipe for a chicken caserole:

So what else can you offer us to keep the hunger pangs at bay using seasonal veg?

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Good Morning All, Down 2 lbs again. I can't believe it. This has been going on for ages but it must be the smaller portions. That is over a stone since Christmas. Good luck to the rest of you today and I do know that luck has nothing to do with it!

No weight loss this week (but no gain either). Have fractured 2 ribs so exercise regime and Tai Chi on back boiler for a couple of weeks. Note to myself, 'be careful, don't comfort eat'
Well done OG!! And Xstitcher. There's a couple more classic typos in your last post that made me smile ;-)
well done OG you must have been on the straight path this week . Don't fall off it for next week.
XSTITCHER I have often wondered when I go places if anyones name I have seen is there as well.

Penelope sorry to here that . How did you manage to fracture your ribs.
Wendilla, tripped and fell. Painful ++, but it takes time to heal so nothing I can do about it other than analgesia. Just hate being inactive.
Ouch Penelope .....poor you.
Yes xstitcher, feeling sorry for myself at the moment. Bored stiff and such a beautiful day.
Aww very gentle (((hugs))) for you penelope2, you have my sympathy as I would struggle not to comfort eat too! Coffee and fruit at the ready for those moments when you're extra bored, but thank goodness for good old Answerbank to keep you company.

What gentle things can we find for Penelope to do to keep him from being bored while he is suffering?
Good Morning All,

I'm down 2 lbs again. This is getting to be a very pleasant habit. I hope you all do well today.
Well done Xstitcher you and I must have been on the same track this week as I am down 1 1/2 lbs . That way be due to more salad meals and no cake .
Oh dear, I'm 1lb up this morning, despite the salads and fresh veg. I will have to track back as i was hopeful for a better result today.

Well done you two, you are definitely on a winning streak.
Maydup I am sure you will rectify it . I have been stuck at the same for a few weeks so hopefully on my way to get rid of that stone .
I have stopped planning fat free etc meals and am eating normally but smaller portions...not tiny but not large either.
That is too bad for you Maydup when you feel that you are doing all the right things. Maybe for some reason your body has some fluid retention?
Ah mixed results so far I see.

Sigh. The previous weekend I stayed at home and went noticeably down. Last weekend was a long 4 day type away from home and I'm now 2⅞ up on the week :-( The one consolation being that since my return weighing Monday morning it has dropped each day.
Lol Og so you must have had a 4 day non healthy eating .
Always do when staying with others. One has to be polite and be grateful for what is offered when a guest.
Like you xstitcher and after watching and reading all about salt and sugar this last week on tv I have gone for smaller portions and not had any ready meals . I don't normally do bought ready meals only if I am late back .But I am going to cut them out now and use my own .
Good morning all and congratulations to those who have lost weight.
I have gained 2 lbs this week (Grrr). Put this down to interruption of exercise regime due to fractured ribs and secondary chest infection. Have kept to my diet tho'.
On a positive note the weather has been lovely so have been able to 'potter' in the garden and greenhouse and sow seeds in readiness for my allotment.
Roll on next week.!!
Not surprising that those 2 lbs have kept up on you P but I think they will disappear quickly when you get back to normal...glad to hear that you have found some rewarding things to do.
I'm feeling on top of the world today and wanted to share with you .... I had my blood pressure checked this morning and the nurse told me i have the blood pressure of a 20 yr old and should be very proud of it. I'm mid 50's!! Whoopee

Now i will resist celebrating with a c@ke but keep onwards and downwards; you never know i might be 18 again yet. Enjoy the sunshine folks and eat your fruit!
