Happy New Year to all of you and well done to everyone!!

I will be making no mention of how everyone may have slipped up over the festive season (including myself) but, instead, can anyone think of one positive thing about January to help us get over one of the most difficult months of the year.

Here is last months thread

Thanks for the welcome folks, will certainly be visiting on a regular basis. Everyone seems very positive and it's great to have support.

For me the one positive thing about January is that because we have passed the solstice the nights are getting shorter, however imperceptably, and summer is getting closer.
I lost half a pound over Xmas. :>)
The special offers tend to be aimed at dieters as they know thats what the market wants... ignore the left over biscuits and stilton.... there will be deals on wholegrain cereals and salads
It's my birthday this month (I'm pretty positive about that)
I will be officially old (not quite so positive).
Hmmmm one positive thing about January.....the chance of snow perhaps..........a good bargain at the sales.......back to normal after the hustle and bustle of Christmas.......

I find it much easier to eat well in January. Silly really, but the concept of "starting anew" seems to set me up nicely.
we need blubber for warmth thru winter - that's my excuse ;)
The only positive thing I can think of is that there won't be anymore Xmas food adverts making me dribble!
Well done TOH. I will be weighing myself tomorrow and am absolutely dreading it. After two weeks of treating myself I can feel that I have put weight on which is not a good sign. Oh well, lots of vegetable soup for a while I think. Will report back after weighing in!
Jan, don't worry. We are ALL dreading it. I was in town today and went out thinking that I looked pretty okay. After the mirrors in the changing rooms I came home thinking I looked like two ton Tessie, the bride of Dracula.

Don't you all agree with me that those mirrors are made to make us look bigger or am I in denial do you think?
Yes I have certainly had a dig into everything going but I have been to Asda today and done a healthy food shop to start off again. I agree about the mirrors Xstitcher. Onwards and Downwards .
I hate the mirrors in shop changing rooms. They have the mirrors so you can see all around yourself and usually the lighting is so harsh and bright and it casts all shadows making people look older as well and the shadows make dark lines under every minor wrinkle. It's so depressing. You'd think they'd have softer lighting so you'd want to spend more time in there and buy more things. I haven't weighed myself over Christmas, but will tomorrow, and I feel hopeful. :-)
Good Morning All,

Well I say, I have actually gone down 1 poud. I don't believe it after those mirrors yesterday. If it is true I think I shall rush out and buy another turkey which is what I have been eating since Christmas and enjoying.....lol
No matter how afraid you are about getting on those scales, please do it so we all know what we have to work with. Onwards and downwards !!! Here's to meeting our goals in 2012.
Up 2⅛ pounds. Could be worse I suppose. Should be back to pre-Xmas weight by June.
Happy New Year everyone. I have started off well I slept in and forgot to weigh but I have done my healthy food shop yesterday and will weigh next week . Thats my excuse as I know I have gained a bit I must have. But it will be rectified. I will pluck up courage in the morning and weigh.
I have to own up, put on 6lb over the last two weeks. I'm not surprised or upset as I had a bad time over christmas and new year, coping with the first one without my husband, and ate and drank my way through it! I am still determined to carry on and will just have to be very good from now on and keep telling myself I've done well to lose the 3 stone. Good luck all and onwards and downwards in the new year.
I can see that was a bad Christmas for you Jan but hope now that you can get rid of those three kilos...are you still swimming?
I know, I know , I boasted about losing half pound over Xmas, but I may well have put a few pounds back on this last week. Ive been full of cold, so not moving about as much and I usually go to Zumba twice a week and that was closed anyway. The weigh in tonight will no doubt shame me !! :>(
Swimming? Think you have me muddled up with someone else, lol. Wish I could but with my mobility problems I can't even get into the leisure centre. I will have to stick to my armchair exercises for now.
Jan don't worry about this gain. It has not been a good year for you but now you have had a good binge into everything you know now to get back on track. You have lost quite a bit so don't worry about 6 lbs just get back on track . I have to as well so must get started . Good Luck
