Call me Ian...

Oh so the uniform is the only reason you are joining?? Well good luck getting in anyway!

Well I went on a date last night!! One of my customers at work rang me and said she wanted to take me out for a coffee to say thanks for looking after her!! It went very well! But not sure - do I need someone younger than a 40 year old... (I am 31) But I am conscious that I make up my mind about someone sometimes too quickly, so I need to slow down...

I ran the London Marathon last year, and I tell you what, I was in no position to ran after women after... I did follow an angel over the finish line.. I don't think I was hallucinating!
morning Ian.
Ken is my monika but you could probably guess that. hehe.

Kudos on the date, what was she like? Age gaps are often debated on AB and my own personal thoughts are that if there is an attraction and you both get on then why the hell not. Also, there is a lot to be said about the experience that they are supposed to have.

Also pleasantly surprised that she offered to take you out.
Are you seeing her again then? :)

Yep, I can imagine that after 26 miles then the chances of coming across suave and debonair would be difficult. Still, some girls like that kind of thing and it shows that you are active etc.

Thanks re RAF. The uniform was at the bottom of the list of reasons for joining am afraid. More than likely it was from watching war films too much as a kid and some sort of patriotic duty that, I fear, is wasted on the country at the moment but that's for an AB question in a different category.
Hello mateys! Not too much progress on my part, but am in the process of just going for it with this guy and making an utter fool of myself :) but as you quite rightly said, chin up n' all that. I have him making the effort to actually come and speak to me and then i say something really stupid.. *duh! and he'd even complimented me!! but i very almost snorted and then went a nice shad of scarlett :( he knows i like him, so b*gger it i thought i might as well take a risk... How be you Ken and Ian.. RAF; very nice and i am very happy for you Ian with you becoming a toyboy - very fancy, but seriously tho, agreeing with Ken if your both attraced to eachother then go for it - i need to listen to my own advice! - theres 6 years between me and this potential bf... and hey, the ball's in your court if she madethe first move - good on her! love ya lots guys, keep each other posted!
- oh... and by the by, if we all end up lonely living with cats in many years time, i really think we should get together for a threesome ;) lol. x x
Evening Lost.
Sometimes making a strange snorting sound can be endearing. Just look upon it as that. :).

Regarding the threesome, is it ok if I have a dog? (not in the threesome I mean :)) Am planning on getting a bassett hound at some point as I don't seem to get on with Cats.

On that subject, have you ever had a partner who's pet you didn't get on with? A former gf of mine had a German Sheperd that was called 'Vader'. Scared the cr*p out of me! hehe.
Question Author
I was flattered that she made the effort to ring me and ask me, and we got on really well... She was wearing a short skirt and knee high boots which wasn't fair as my resistance crumbled...

But do you 2 feel like you have to make up your mind about someone and think yes this has a chance or no it doesn't? Or is this just me? I have made one rash decision this way, but on the other hand was right last time.

I love WW2 films... did go through wanting to be a pilot stage but colour blindness is a no no :(

A threesome would not be a last resort!! I would prefer 2 women and me, but ken you seem like a nice bloke!

Lost, why do you say you are making a fool of yourself? I'm sure you're not, although I know how you feel - it is more difficult to relax if you are trying to impress someone.. for me anyway... I end up saying something I wouldn't normally say... If he plays on the fact that you like him, then that is his problem not yours...

I told you about the hairdresser that I sent a Val card to... was never going to go in there again, as my phone never rang.. But then when my customer rang me, it didn't occur to me that she would suddenly have to avoid me... for this reason I think I will go back to the same salon! And pretend card wasn't from me...

Sorry, have no pet horror stories! My ex's dog hates me, but keeps away from me! (No good reason for this.)
Ian,
Short skirts and knee high boots are the secret weapons that are taught to girls at school to get what they want. :)
That is the only explanation I can think of as they have the same effect on me. hehe.
Good plan re going back to H'dressers. If you had started to avoid her then she would probably have clocked it was you.
Am also more of a FFM kind of threesome guy. Think it would be weird seeing more winkeys in a bed than there should be. hehe.
Yes, Colour blindness will let you down, however I know an electrician who is colour blind. Don't ask me how he does it but he seems to manage.

Is it the weekend yet?
Of course it's ok if your have a dog, but preferably not in the room at the time.. I'm more of a dog person anyway! - Cats are too independent and only come and sit on you to keep themselves warm.. my friend once had a cat, i had slept over that night and woke up with a hangover to find this cat practically sitting on my face - farting away it was and i was LIVID she let it in the bedroom! Pets are fine, but i draw a line at them being allowed in the bedroom vacinity!! Not a partners pet i haven't got on with, but mates'...

I totally agree that you make a decision on possibly where a relationship is likely to go, and i guess that judgement is partly to save yourself humiliation/heartache/or quite franjly the effort - if the other person doesn't seem like they want ti make any... People always say you should trust what your gut tells you.. and that instinct is there for a reason, but that doesn't mean you then stop yourself doing something.... LIke with me i have 2 sides of me arguing over what to do, one tells me to make a move - the worst he could say is no, and the other says all the factors that it'll effect in my life if i go ahead, then the other spits back 'coward'.. so my situation is now:
I made a move... so i started speaking to him yesterday and it seemed all those things i had planned to say disappeared from my memory so i was left talking about work, anyway he talked back and all was well til i decided it was time for complimenting; so i told him he has an attractive smile and that it always make me happy seeing other people i like smiling... WHAT A PR*T?! STOOPID THING TO SAY!! i didn;t really know how he took it then because admittedly he was called over by someone so i was sort of left there, no reaction, he just looked at me a bit like 'i dont know what to say to that' and then walked off!!!!

I suppose Ian, maybe we should try to hold out with our judging people and potential future-partner-material nd give people a chance... i think much of it is a defence thing, well for me i feel vulnerable (says the person who has basically put her heart on the line with a bloke who literally walked off, i mean i'd exect it from a boy in the playground in junior school but not from a grown man!) and thus, try to determine what 'getting hurt' factor there is involved - more so when i do think the persons out of my league anyway.

And hey Ken, more winkeys then there should be? If they were not within you view - if ya get what i mean, then maybe you'd both just about cope with me. As your distraction! I have a beautiful friend who we could get drunk and maybe she'd join in too, so one of you wouldn't feel left out ;) .

Sorry boys, no knee-highs or short skirts for me... but maybe i'd make an exception...
We may hold you to that now you know. :).

It takes a lot of guts to say something like that to someone. There are people I know who can do it all the time but I am always tongue tied in case they laugh in my face or walk off. Just the chance you take I suppose. Kudos for trying it though. S*d him if he obviously can't realise just how amazing you are.

Good plan re winkeys not being in view. Could be weird knowing it was there though. hehe. just kidding. Bring your friend along and I'm sure we can find something to occupy ourselves. :).

Another problem I think I have, not sure if any of you share this; is that I never know if anyone likes me in the way that I hope or if its just a polite liking. Know what I mean?
I honestly think that it would take a woman stood naked in front of me with a sign saying, 'Take me!' for me to realise that she liked me. hehe.
Question Author
Lol Ken... well I would still have to make sure... how big is this sign?

Oh come on Lost... do you own knee high boots and short skirts? (Also, skirts are ok to the knee with boots.) It is not an overtly sexual thing for me, just think girls look gorgeous in them...

Re hairdresser, I only ever see her when I get my hair cut, but I would prefer to see her elsewhere first and maybe say something so there was less embarrassment when I did go in to the salon next time. I feel like the 3 of us are on the same wavelength... Don't you think it is strange that if you fancy someone that doesn't fancy you, it is embarrassing and yet if they do fancy you, it is all ok?

Winkey? Calling it this is why you are single I think!! ;)

I do try to judge whether someone is right for me long term very early I think mainly because I don't want to lead them on... Lost, you are right, we have to give people a chance, but I do find it difficult to do... But trying now anyway!

Bring your friend along!! I will make sure there is alcohol available! Save on heating as well... Cats can stay outside the room!

Lost, well done for trying!! I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you imagine... just sounds like the timing was wrong. How about if he wasn't called away, would he have said something back to you? I'm sure he would as we all like a compliment.

I go through phases of thinking everyone who smiles at me fancies me!! If I do ask someone out, it isn't because I think they like me, it is because my feelings for them overcome the possible embarrassment.
Hey my gorgeous buddies (is 'buddy' a sad word?!) Just to inform you, i am seeing The Guy tomorrow (not a date unfortunately, just know we will be in the same place at the same time n all...) and am not getting my hopes up, however thought i'd treat myself some sexy undies today in the hope it'd make me feel sexy and 'radiate' that energy or something, i don't know... must be a girlie thing because i can't imagine a bloke going to buy some new boxers to make themselves feel, er, good! lol...

Best way to ask for someones number? - without asking them direct... i don't want to sound cheesy, but thought maybe this is a more hinthint-winkwink way of moving on to actually asking if he wants to see me some time, just us - then not giving it to me is not quite as bad as him turning me down from me directly asking him out ... oh decisions decisions..!

Ken,
How big would the signe be hun?!

Ian,
I don't own one skirt! but i can make that up by showing you how good i look in my new underwear?!(i am not really that far up my own arse by the way) lol.

I agree with us all being on the same wavelength :) it's kind nice, almost a little cool we don't even know what eachother look like.. sexy! However i would never post my pic on this site, would/have you guys?

New mini-dilema: is it wrong of me to feel very slightly attracted to my best mate? I think i'm turning bi :-s we have started spending more time together with my being single and her having b/f trubs... i don't know, maybe it's just that i am trying to fill a void... lol

Btw, how old are you Ken? i assume i be the youngest outta our threesome... is that good or bad for you guys???!!!
Well, the sign would have to be big enough to cover 'things' but small enough to make it past the watershed. :).

Am 29, 30 on the 29th March. Cards and expensive gifts are appreciated, don't feel like you have to spend too much tho. Lost, I think I would settle for a piccy of you in those undies. :). Ian, just a 'Happy Birthday' will suffice from you.

Winkey was the first term that came to mind that wouldn't get filtered out by AB. Thankfully it isn't a term I use in front of anybody and will never use it again. :)

Regarding the undergarments a chap might purchase, I have to say that I do have a couple of pairs of shorts that I would wear if I thought someone else would see them, white calvins, they tend to go down well (pardon the pun). Not sure I've ever bought any to make me feel good though. As for radiating, I do believe that if you feel good about what you're wearing then it shows.

You think you're turning bi? Ian, we have to arrange this three/foursome quicksharp!

You don't own a skirt?!?! Is that allowed under current EU regulations?

Best way to ask for number. One way I saw working perfectly was that my friend had a really funny joke on his mobile and would be showing it to his mate who would laugh hysterically. Any nearby female would normally ask what it was and, upon realising it was funny, would offer her number so it could be texted to her. I've seen this work and it is actually one of his more tame chat-up methods. I won't divulge any more of them in case Lost ever gets to meet him. :)

As for posting pictures on here, fraid not. Didn't know you could. How would you each describe yourselves though?
Me - 6 ft tall, dark hair, medium build (improving through getting fit for forces) and a wearer of specs.

Hope everyone's week is progressing well and you are looking forward to the weekend. Lost, where are you seeing the guy
Question Author
Aw you guys (hug)

I think that Ken's mate's way of getting a number is a little sneaky... If he likes you then he'll be happy to let you have his number. Why don't you invite him out to a film and say noone else will go but you really want to see it... When he says ok, say ok, can I text you and I'll find out times. Texting is a lot easier than having to get the courage up to ring him...

Ooh sexy undies... send me a pic and I'll tell you how confident you should be! Doesn't matter about the skirt!! I know what you mean.. bought some jockey shorts on the request of a gf, and you do feel more confident. And confidence is an attractive quality...

My photos are on myspace and faceparty if you would really like to see what I look like... I am 5 10, brown hair, wear glasses, am good looking but young looking...

Bi?? Meet us 2 and we will persuade you that that isn't for you!! I feel close to mates I have known for years, but would never have crossed my mind that I was unsure about my sexuality. Women are too lovely!

Thought the mystery woman was going to be wearing this sign?? Small as possible!

You have missed a trick Ken... my 30th started in April, and ended in July, a few days after my birthday! Roll on 40!! (Scary.)

Evening guys, Hope your date went well Lost.

Ian, Good point re texting instead but do you not think that texting has taken away some of the good things about actually talking to someone? I mean, its a great method to kind of test the water (especially if you're a bit nervous) but, as a bit of a traditionalist, I reckon its taking away the art of conversation. Just my old fogey upbringing I think. hehe.

Re birthday, a group of my friends all have birthdays around the same time as us (my twin and I) so we're having a month long celebration including nights out in Newcastle, Blackpool and Manchester. That should be a fairly enjoyable outing. :).

Have to agree, women are ace. Could definitely not see myself in a Brokback mountain situation. hehe.

Seeing as you guys are over the big 3-0, can I just ask what you got / asked for your birthday? My family has deemed it upon themselves to give us money. I see the benefits as it means you can get your own gifts but surely a birthday like this deserves one or two special pressies too?
Question Author
Ken.. we are talking lost into women here lol... we are gorgeous too!!

I am 31.. I think you'll find that Lost is about 18... Don't insult my girl!

I had some money off my parents which I put towards a new set of golf clubs... just a few bits from mates, including 3 cakes! But had a lovely trip to a castle in Scotland with 11 mates and we had a great time! I can recommend splashing out and you'll remember it for a long time!

Would be interesting to find out how you compare with your twin? Are you identical? Is he single? Who is the more outgoing of you two?

Texting... yes it can be a lazy way of talking I agree with you there... But I think can be a great way of introducing yourself to someone... I have rung women up either after meeting them the first time, or spoken to them for the first time and my heart has been pounding like mad! But of course nice to talk on phone and in person as well...
Yer Ken people post links to their myspaces n that, but I dont think Id dare. Being totally honest when describing myself? Slim bottom half and bigger up top with love handles (but not muffin-tops!) but hey, guys have gotta have something to hold on to! Im trying to keep pretty fit at the mo too ;)

Truth is I work with The Guy ;-s good or bad I do not know but today was alwight- we have been speaking- but I am still speaking tw*t language, but at least hes not giving me the cold shoulder (doesnt appear to be) and my compliment was discreetly mentioned on his part and he apologised for being called away J He didnt even have to mention it, so that was quite nice. HE IS SO GOREOUS H-E-L-P! Just feels like my life will not be complete unless he and I make a little lovelol, I have it bad.

About being bi, I think its just the fact that this lass is truly one of the best mates Ive ever had, *cue: aw!* and we always joke about lesbianism and I call her beautiful and she tells me Im sexy, but I could never live without c*ck I dont think. No, I definitely couldnt! And theres that protective element about a guy and the manlyness, when your in bed and he looks into your eyes ah! Bliss

Texting - I do agree, about the testing the water thing and such, but a major downer on the whole technology and communication thing is that you can say one thing and the person reading it can totally get the wrong end of the stick.. misinterpretation and humiliation

Ian, post your link, Id like to see you J

Ken, I am only 18! Apologies, but my big 3-0 birthday is a way off as yet Which means I hopefully can have lots of fun in the coming few years, not that your life stops by any means but whilest I havent got responsibilities and all.

Hey guys... what could a girl say to you by text that'd totally drive you crazy? I'm thinking something short n sweet; meaning whatever you
Apolgies about the 'J's, they are supposed to be smiley faces, i dont know what happened to my pc! xx
- meaning whatever you want it to mean... - i am totally away witht he fairies whilest typing today!
