Do you and your partner do nice things for each other? Such as sending a nice message just to make them feel good or buying something you think they would like for no reason. We've been together 2.5 years and I still do all sorts of nice little things for him but he rarely does. (not that he's not nice in gereral). Is it just a man thing?

mine buys me random roses and stuff. maybe you need to hint to him. mind you some are very giving and some arnt as much.
Depends. Some men, when they are growing up, are used to being waited on hand and foot.

I did say to him last week, I want something nice to which he replied he wasn't going to give me anything nice as long as I was asking for it. I think I lose this one either way.
Mine sends me nice messages daily. He also phones me on his break every morning to ask if I slept ok (I think he gets bored)

He tends to buy me things like plants...and I mentioned I needed a blender so he went out and got me one. Sweet things like that.

He also leaves money next to the bed every morning (not for that!) just in case I run out of something like milk....
Stop doing nice things for him then. If he queries it, just say you're sick of him taking and never giving.
ummmm sounds like you got it good!
ummmm

Sometimes I leave Mr LL some money. I control the money in our house ;o)
You don't want to hear the disgusting things he does to me to make himself laugh...!!!

Pros and cons...lol

I get the feeling he probably wouldn't notice if I stopped doing nice things for him. I should say he isn't all the bad. He does call me most days during his break and always makes sure to say he loves me before bed. I'm just a demanding girl who watches too many movies I think. :)
Lottie...I have my own money but like the queen I don't carry cash..! He leaves me change...

Leaving me money would work!
Only joking ummmm!

However, I do control the finances in our house! I let him have some spending money occasionally!!
Lol...given a choice I'd leave him in charge of everything...

Milly...I wouldn't worry about it too much.
I'm a control freak ummmm!!

Not worried about it, more like I'm having a mini tantrum.

I might leave the laptop open on this page later so he sees it.
I think that people are just different.
Yes. I assume everyone does nice things for the people they love (not just a lover). Sometimes people don't do stereotypically nice things (flowers, chocolates etc..) so you have to look a bit closer to see the nice things they do for you if it's not apparently obvious, (my mother still remembers me in her prayers although she knows I've no interest in it, sounds weird but an example of a nice thing she does for me in her way).

However, if you look really hard and still think you're coming out on a losing streak, then either accept that's the way it is and if the relationship is worth it then don't let it bother you or move on if you feel you'll only grow resentful.
The present Mrs Hughes is away for two weeks - back on Sunday.

When we replaced our TV, we bought a nice widescreen for the bedroom, but there was no ariel so it hasn't worked, and she has persevered with our ancient portable, and five channels - she loves to watch tv in bed, and because she has ME, she has to have several 'rest days' in a month.

While she has been away, I have had a guy round to install a new arial which runs the bedroom TV - the new flatscreen, so that's a surprise for when she comes home - she'll be in bed for at least one day, maybe two, getting over her trip.
I agree with china, its not just the overtly romantic stuff, its the little stuff that lets you know he loves you and thinks about you.
It's not about grand gestures, it's about the little things. Things like getting out of bed and making you a cup of tea or sending you a nice text message... things like that.
