Well, my daughter has been getting yet MORE homework from the infamous PSHCE about sex, wearing a condom and relationships etc. (2 times a week.) Has it done any good? That boy has (maybe, they don't know yet) fathered a child at the age of 13. (he has the intercourse when he was 12) When kids get this homework about sex education etc. I personally think that it is WASTED. Can't they see that all it takes it some simple parent-child talking to each other? Gosh. Sometimes I fell like I could run the government...

I have to say that parent-child talking doesn't always work. I've always been frank and open with my 3 but I failed miserably with my daughter.
When we sat down for "the chat" I explained everything, including the changes in her body being an indication her periods would be due to start.
The next day she said "I think I'm about to start my periods because I've found hair on my body like you said."
When I asked her where the hair was, she replied
"On my toes."
I have a lot of sympathy for ypour thinking Shoe.

50 yrs ago,sex was never talked about and you picked it up as ypou went along and you were so scared of your patents that intercourse was never contemplated. Staying with the "boy friend" and especially going on holoday with him was never, ever entertained. Yes some did fall through the net, but UK has the higheast rate of teenage preganacies in Europe and it has trebled in the last 20yrs. Surely we must have been doing something right 50yrs ago...can't be any worse than now.

lol, sorry Zacsmaster...

You see, my daughter has been getting homework 2 times a week about PSHCE which, from what I can gather, is teaching about sex, relationships etc. However, if the 12 year old boy who's supposedly fathered that kid had been taught PSHCE then would that have stopped the pregnancy?

In my own opinion, doesn't it just need some talking to from the parents? It would be loads simpler...
Sqad.....

....staying with "the boyfriend" and especially going on holiday with him.....

Is there something you are not telling us about your youth?
after reading about the young matthews lookalike girl aged 14 with 8 possible fathers to her babby

leg,
I believe that PSHCE was made BEFORE this happened, so, if they'd been teaching it then why has this happened?

My point is, doesn't it just need some parents talking to their kids?
(Except mrs.overall. lol)
On a serious note, kids could attend PSHCE lessons 8 hours a day but there is no substitute for proper parental advice such as

Say no
or
Don't do it
Mrs_0....LOL went on a weekend camp with the Youth Club, pitched tents and first love and I disappeared into the fields and spent 1hour in the cab of a dis-used van. She was 17yrs old and I was 16ys old, but in those days there was a code of sexual ethics which had to be followed., kissing .......no forget it.
A disused van! PMSL!

You old romantic!!!
leggy
"its obviously needed more than ever"

What is more sex education in schools or more discipline of the teenagers.

I know which I would go for.

Whoa squad... how... tasteful? lol

I agree with you as well in your latter post. They just need more discipline... Bring on the canes!!
Zac my old mate, this was years before the pill and we could think of lots of "goodies" without penetration.

P.S There was no room for the pill between their knees......I was there. LOL
For gawds sake don't mention canes! Sqad's pacemaker won't be able to stand it!
