Thanks. Any realistic answers for a change? LOL sorry, just looking for some concrete answers not cliches.
If your glass is half empty, can I please have the full half ...cheers ...
That was realistic, cliche or not it works
Find a girl/guy who will take you for all you're worth, when you get rid you'll become less pessimistic, during the healing process!! More seriously, self hipnosis can help to replace the negative thoughts, try reading Autohypnosis by Ronald Shone
Question Author
have you read this book, country_boy?
you may be pessimistic, but that is the future, how are things now? are u happy? contented? enjoying what you have? If not, then it's only you that can change it, and then, if you feel in the right place, you can look to the future with that optimism thingy going on.
Yeah - I've got the book and read it, and I've managed to self hypnotise, it's amazing - replace negative thoughts with positive. You can do whatever you want to. Buy the book, it'll change your life for the better. It did for me.

thanks couintry_boy. I did try paul mckenna some months ago but because I am cynical and lazy it didnt work for me. I have just bought the autohypnosis book, its a 1987 publication and going cheap on amazon. Im not expecting any miracles though. Ive always been like this, scared to take risks, although my parents have to do something with it, I cant go blaming them all my life. I have to take responsibility for myself.
you mean you just bought the book I recommended? I'm flattered if you did. You've gotta have a certain amount of self belief before you start to read. It's funny how when you read it, you believe it more, and it's all possible. Believe me! Stick with it ok, it's all good and very positive - and it works!! You'll have to re-introduce suggestions once a month if you need to. Don't be too lazy with it - it can be hard to get started but is really worth it. Good luck
Question Author
thanks dude. Yes I bought the book you recommend straight away because if it works for you then its proof that it works for someone so therefore there is a chance that it will work for me. Is it easy to get into? Is it a good idea to read it regularly? How has your life changed? Was it a work in progress? You deciding to take more risks? Did you notice the change in you, making you feel happy all the time?
PS - mine is 1982 - still works! Maybe I should update too!
A wise old Scottish woman who was my boss loaned/leant it to me, I was sufferring with panic attacks at the time (which ended up in total paralysis) - she used it just to relax and help her to sleep when she was stressed and had panics too. She was an angel by passing it on. I kept the book and learned the basics - never really needed it since as it did the trick so soon. So many questions you have, yes it was easy to get in to, didn't have to re-introduce too much as after a month I was so sorted. It's all good, you just have to learn total body relaxation, read the book, believe and you'll be fine. it really is amazing. I'll give you an example if you like?
Question Author
yes please.... :o)
First time I managed to hypnotise myself - was about nine o clock in the eve and I fell asleep during - slept right through to next morn. Next time I managed it properly and it was hard to remember what you wanted to suggest and trigger for yourself when in a self induced trance! So I told myself, every time I had a negative thought, I'd replace it with a positive one - which was playing with my cat (only thing I could think of when i was in my trance) - for the next month every negative though I had I just had an image of my playing with my kitten and it took it all away! Hope that made sense! Believe in the book, it works
Question Author
Thank you I will try it and let you know next week what I think of it.
Good luck - there's a hell of a lot more to the book too, I just did the basics. Bear with it if you find it hard to let go to start, the book explains everything so well. Look forward to hearing how you get on
Hiya. As a pessimist myself, I am constantly trying to find ways of becoming more relaxed and happier. Theres a really good book (Feeling good by David Burns MD) thats well worth reading. I found it really useful and dip into it when I am down. Its based on cognitive behavioural therapy which helps you to turn negative thoughts into positive. Sounds a bit simple but its really worth a go. Good luck. x
Nothing. What's the point?
Well, you're going to die. That's a fact, but it will probably not be tomorrow, or even the next day, or even the day after that.

So, look on the bright side and be determined to enjoy every day when you wake up. There are always good things to be thankful for, many of them so small or taken forgranted that you don't even take them into account.

Would you rather be in Africa starving or being infected unwittingly with AIDS , or being in Baghdad or Labanon being bombed, or suffering from a terminal disease, or paralysed, or blind or developing Alzeimers disease, or bankrupt or unemployed ...........or..........or..........or ??.
