Talk about pessimism and doom and gloom. She didn't seem to accept that the vaccine is keeping infections and deaths low. She was giving the impression that we should stay in lock down for the foreseeable. If I didn't know any better I would suspect she is wanting to protect those in the asian community who are refusing the vaccine.

perhaps she is, there does seem especially in London a low turnout to take up the vaccine, which is wrong on every level, as we all need protecting.
LOL.....didn't see her or hear her dave, but I don't agree that the vaccines are not playing a part in the control of the pandemic and clearly I don't agree that the lockdown should be prolonged unnecessarily.
HOWEVER :
In my opinion the Indian variant is widespread throughout the UK.
I do not believe that the present vaccines are as effective as against the original virus.
I think that ,with the information so far, 5he lifting of restricted should be postponed.
The next two weeks are critical in evaluating the effect of the Indian variant and it's mates.

Sorry dave..-;).
No more lockdowns, we have to learn to live with it. People are not dying in huge droves so back to normal and try to rebuild the economy.
What if a white doctor said same thing as some are. Would you still dismiss it. Am wondering why you mention her race
sqad: "I do not believe that the present vaccines are as effective as against the original virus." - you know better than the experts then? right oh! there are many sources saying the vaccine is effective.
I am fairly level headed and not particularly violent but I am beginning to seethe at the ethnic groups refusing to have the vaccine -even if that's not actually true or fair - and am sure others might want to thump a few of them. We have had enough of this and extending the carrot because of the inaction of others makes my blood boil.
TTT..just been in the "game" too long, not tobe able to read between the lines.
I am often wrong.
Let's keep this simple.
One needs BOTH jabs of either vaccine to give about 80% protection against the Indian variant. BOTH JABS.

What % of UK population has had 2 JABS ?
Less than 50%.

Yes sqad, my link gives just a 33% efficacy after the first dose (after 3 weeks).
//Am wondering why you mention her race//

Presumably because of this:

//If I didn't know any better I would suspect she is wanting to protect those in the asian community who are refusing the vaccine.//

The debate about which should not be stifled. If, in fact it was the other way round and white British people were declining to have the vaccine in their droves, thus putting the wellbeing and the potential relaxation of restrictions in jeopardy for everybody (including our Asian friends) there would certainly be a debate.
i wonder if asians are refusing because there are a lot of illegals among them and or thye think the man in sky will save them or it's destiny..
This would never happen, but:
Tell the Asian community to get vaccinated, or lose their benefits.
They would be queuing up in droves.

She was unbelievably negative and the continued doubts i hear every day on the tv about getting things back to normal in June is actually starting to really frustrate and annoy me.
Lots of people of all races, including white British, are choosing not to be vaccinated. The common factors are fear and ignorance, not race.
we must make society unbearable for these morons, end of.
Ellipsis, if thats the case then you have whole areas mostly asians saying no...go figure
It is not fair to blame just Asian people.
The most up to date figures from the Office of National Statistics state that the greatest vaccine hesitancy is among Black or Black British (about 30%). This does not include Asians who are listed separately.
Also, people who don’t speak English have the lowest vaccine rates in the over 50’s.
Adults living in the most deprived areas have higher rates of vaccine hesitancy.
Hindus and Sikhs have almost the same vaccine levels as Christians but Muslims are lower.
So there are a lot of factors at work here and just blaming ‘Asians’ is obviously not acceptable.
P.S. I agree that I am fed up with doom and gloom merchants. We’ve got some nice weather coming so let’s enjoy it.
