For the first time ever my little dog can't seem to keep her food down, she seems OK in every other way -her poops are normal. She threw up her last night's meal before bed-time & has been sick again in the night.

Being a holiday the only vet available is an emergency one, & some distance away, Any advice welcome please.

If her food isn't staying down I would guess her poops would quickly become abnormal. From watching vets progs on telly I would suspect some sort of intestinal blockage & recommend urgent vet attention.
Doggy Covid?

Sometimes pooches digestive systems have a little hiccup.

Monitor the situation, if I was Sqad I'd recommend ibuprofen.
Starve her for 24 hours, water only, then chicken and rice. If no better then the vet. Dogs pick up all sorts. I have had dogs all my life and if I went to the vet as soon as they vomited I would have spent a fortune (I have anyway!)
I'm guessing she's showing no other signs of being unwell? Perhaps she's eaten something nasty whilst out on a walk. Dogs do that sort of thing. Initially I would do as Boto suggests.

Boto: Thanks, She seemed OK last night, & she appears to be fine in herself, so my wife gave her a normal meal which was obviously too much. We'll try starving her a bit today & hope it goes. She has a nasty habit of drinking out of puddles, even though we are in the country she may have ingested something unpleasant.
Ours wolfed down an onion bhaji off out table and was sick for early 24 hours...apparantly onions are a no-no.
Very subdued for 24 hours and kept eating grass and leaves ...must of helped ...until back to normal. Did'n't go near anything with onions after that

Bob: The day before yesterday she had some leftover beef in with her meal which had been cooked in a sauce containing mushrooms, the mushrooms were removed but something of them would have been in the gravy, perhaps that might have been it.

If anyone is interested this is her, very pretty & popular in the village, all the children want to stroke her;

Oh, she's gorgeous. I hope she gets better soon.
Khandro. She is beautiful. Just a tip. Instead of starving her give her rice and cooked chicken in small amounts for a few days. Hope she jets better soon. X
plain white chicken and a little rice done the trick for my Maxie. I hate them vomiting as it makes me anxious - but he will get better. Don't give him a load tho - just a little and maybe another little very late on to fill a hole for him. He is a beautiful dog.
What a gorgeous dog!
Beautiful dog. I hope she’s ok now.

We are just giving her a very small quantity of boiled rice with a tiny scrap of white chicken every few hours & she has been OK so far today.
Her nose is cold & everything else seems to be in order, so tomorrow we can give her more of her normal diet I think.

We feel really bad about starving her though :0(

Thanks for inquiring.
So glad to hear that Khandro. It's always a worry when a pet is not well.
She is lovely!
Khandro, she has the kindest face, a gorgeous looking dog.

My vet recommended plenty of fresh water for dogs' sickness and small meals of cooked, plain white rice with some plain cottage cheese, next day similar with cooked, flaked coley and third day similar with poached, plain chicken. Thankfully they have always recovered with this diet.

I would keep her on the rice and chicken food for another 2 days to help her stomach settle, it won't harm her. Hope she is soon feeling much more her usual self.

Thanks choux, she was OK through the night, so I think it has passed by, we will give her small amounts of light food through today, as you suggest.

I do hope she is OK now Khandro, we do worry about our pets. Onions and currants are other foods to be avoided if we don't want to make them ill, just in case you didn't know).
That is good news indeed, Khandro. She is going to love you even more when normal meals are served :)
She looks as if she has a soft, silky coat. I have only had male dogs, both half GSD.

My friend's first dog was mainly Collie and he had beautiful colouring and a shiny coat that I envied. All without paying ridiculous money on hair products.

I do hope she doesn't like the aroma of Fox.
