Ladies, if you were a little chubby round the waistline, would you be offended or pleased to receive from your partner a gift of a stomach-flattening device?

Do you mean an iron ?
if you don't mind it wrapped round your head x
Neither him or me or so shallow for that , he wouldn’t do it
He'd find it dished up for every meal for the next year....with gravy.

I would apologise to the surgeon tasked with its removal from his .........
Are you serious????????

There isn't a woman in the galaxy who is carrying a little extra weight who is not acutely aware of it.

To advertise the fact that not only is her partner aware ofi it - dangerous ...

But has taken steps to think that she needs to do something about it - really dangerous ...

And has actually gone out and bought her something to do somwthing about it - seriously dangerously dangerous ...

And then thins it's a good idea to give it to her as her Christmas present - guarenteed fatal!!!!

The blip is now desperately searching for perfume, flowers and chocolates... :-)
No way! Is that what you're getting for Xmas then Blip?

Calm down, calm down! A close cousin of mine is livid after being given one for her birthday by her hubby and I’ve been trying to console her by putting a positive spin on it…but I can’t come up with one

Best thing you can do is listen while she plots cutting him into one-inch cubes with a rusty tin lid, and nod occasionally.

Say nothing - as a man, you will be wrong!!!!!
On a serious note, I am sure your friend's husband thought he was doing the right thing.

The problem is, as I pointed out, and has been illustrated by the ladies who have posted thus far, no woman ever wants anyone to point out the fact that she has constructed a small veranda over the fun palace - unless its a strictly women-only conversation, and usually, alcohol will have been consumed first.
out of the blue, it would be like him calling out "Oi, fatty!"

You could say if she was concerned about her weight and had discussed it seriously with him, then he was being thoughtful and helpful. It doesn't sound as if that's quite what happened, though.

I’ve told her I will happily use it myself if he doesn’t take it back to the shop and find something kinder with his refund
the same effect could have been achieved by just giving her an old-fashioned push lawnmower, and the garden would look better too.
Unless they live in a flat, Jno.... I once had some manure delivered to someone without a garden. Well, he had upset me.
How much manure, Gness?
This should be in Jokes - what a stupid insensitive present - she should get him a year's supply of Viagra extra strength and a penis enlarger.
Errrrrrrrr ........ how suicidal are you feeling?
1974ish, Hoppy. Can’t remember but I guess a good steaming pile.
