Too Sqad - Ibuprofen

Hi,

I have been meaning to say for ages. Absolutely no disrespect to you, but you mention taking Ibuprofen a great deal in your answers. It's a very good drug for all sorts of aches and pains, available over the counter and I would certainly take it. However, I can't take it because I'm on blood thinners and my husband cannot because of heart issues as it's an Anti-inflammatory drug.

We have quite a few friends in our age group in this situation because of various health issues who have also
Been told to avoid Ibuprofen.

I'm just wondering whether you should issue a warning that Ibuprofen cant be taken by some people and actually for them Paracetamol would be the answer. A lot of folk on here rely on you rather than consult a GP or pharmacist.

Just a thought. There are a lot of oldies on this site!!

Hello Sqad. Thanks for replying. One thing doctors are very, very cautious about is that people on blood thinners don't take ibuprofen. My own trusted doctor told me never even to take a single dose.

And yes medicine is all about the individual, which is why on line advice isn't good if the adviser doesn't know your history.

And Sqad, I am one of those awful patients who questions doctors. I always want to know all the venue and wherefores. Been like that since schooldays when I questioned teachers!!

I would have agreed with you @ 19.11 once, Pat. However, a problem I had some years ago, was dealt with very badly by consultants in Peterborough and Kettering hospitals.
Where did I get the diagnosis and best advice? From Sqad. Still, after all these years, I'm problem free.. :-).
