Will the country forgive the G.P.’s for going into hiding when we needed them most?

Do you think they've been sitting at home, watching Loose Women for the past year?
You’d really have to specify why you think GPS have failed us before you get a meaningful reply.
my G P is still there
you know where I left him when I last went down

Zac, if I need to quote specifics for you then you have obviously had a better experience with your G.P.than I have.
My family have had no trouble getting medical assistance when needed.
That’s dodging the issue. If you can’t give specific reasons you won’t get specific answers I’m afraid.
Many of the GPs around here seem to be working flat out with helping the vaccination programme. However when I needed a same-day face-to-face appointment, I had no problem at all in getting one, with the GP happy to give me plenty of her time too.

I have never had a problem getting a same-day appointment at our local surgery, either before or during the pandemic.
In a way, I know what you mean. When the pandemic first took a grip here in the Uk my Gps practice actually closed to all but emergencies.

I found out they got a serious telling off from the powers that be and reopened for very soon after giving tel. apps. only. Then they started seeing patients again. I didn't try to see anybody at that time as they were busy but recently I had to see somebody and got seen quite quickly.

So, I won't forget that they ran away at the start, but as they are operating as near normal now, I suppose it will be forgiven.
The last thing I heard about our surgery was they intended to increase capacity to 32,000 patients.
Three weeks ago I phoned our surgery a few days after having had the vaccine as I was in a bit of a state with headaches, sweating , freezing even my skin hurt. I couldn't bare daylight and had severe pains on one side of my chest. The receptionist said it was quite common and that I should take Paracetomol and the Doctor will phone me back .. in a few weeks ?
The previous time I had called the surgery was more than three years ago and I had a similar scenario with the receptionist diagnosing and trying to put me off. On the latest occasion, after putting her right, I received a call back the same day .. and yes she was wrong, I had shingles !!
what are you talking about? do you have a link to explain?
Sorry .. my case never reached the headlines.. ;-)
Lol should have done alva! Anyway people might well be snitty until they need a doctor then it will all get forgiven
I've had no problems getting my family to see the GP when deemed necessary by telephone and / or video consultation. We've also had our routine diabetes and COPD reviews as well as random welfare calls from the practice nurses. A couple of house visits by GP when there was no alternative.
Where I am you have no chance of speaking to, let alone seeing a GP. They’ve gone into hiding en mass. If your lucky the practice nurse will telephone you and you’d better be in. Answering your question, No I will not forgive or forget such craven behaviour. That also includes dentists. I speak from personal experience. Also know many people who have also been abandoned.
Our's have always been in hiding, just deeper now.
It's now taking us at least 2 weeks just to get a phone call and that is if you can get past the receptionist in the first place. Then they give you a day when they will phone not a time and they will only call once. Then if they will see you it's another couple of weeks.
do you have a link to explain what you are talking about? Has every GP disappeared? As far as I can tell they've been working as hard as anyone in the health sphere.
I think ludwig is in hiding, Tora ;-)
mine did phone consultations and had a secure contact facility well before the pandemic. The secure contact system is available to any GP service. Before the pandemic it was a godsend to people like myself who have responsibilities that limit when and where they can go. Like Buenchico, this means that if you need to be seen immediately, then its possible.
I think ludwigvan was just making an observation that it's quite difficult to get to see a GP so probably no link. I know the hardest part of getting to see ours is getting past the receptionists before and after a phone call. Then often they try getting us to use the online consult which in itself takes ages and asks you the same questions over and over.
