Hi Henry - I am looking forward to the time when a vaccine is available.

I will happily wait my turn in the pecking order.

As a more senior citizen, how do you feel about it?
"Wouldn't surprise me if this is Dido's next job."

Hope not,she'll be singing abt surrender!!
I see that Piers Corbyn wants MPs who favour the vaccine to have it first to see if it works. We’d see how many died or got ill and decide by the end of 2021
NJ, the power under the Regulation you quoted, applies only to those diagnosed with Covid-19 and self-isolating.

It does not apply to those advised to self-isolate via the English NHS app.
He must have stolen that from a post I wrote on AB the other day :-)
ymf, if they gave Dido the job, she'd last about '7 Seconds' before getting completely 'Lost' and raising 'The White Flag'.
Surely it's not the 'if it works' that is the problem but rather what other side effects could be?
True Ken.
//If NJ, who is connected to the law//
Has nj actually claimed that? Usernames don't need to be accurate.
Appointing Dido would be 'One step too far'.
If i was on Facebook, i'd start a rumour that one of the more common side effects of the jab is that it interferes with your internal wiring, making everything seem topsy turvy, with the end result of changing a person's leaning :-)))))
so a cure for scoliosis then?
Pix 'Has nj actually claimed that? Usernames don't need to be accurate.'

Many years ago NJ admitted to not being a Judge but he is 'something' to do with legal matters. He seems to post quite a lot on Motoring matters, so I suspect he's a traffic warden.
^Haha, Woof. Should have read "a person's political leaning."
I used the word 'affinity' first, then decided 'leaning' was better, but deleted too many words:-(
Traffic Warden? Lollipop man. :-)
Maybe. Who knows.
Of course NJ said he couldn't see a vaccine being available any time soon, I think a lot of us thought that and others have said so on AB. It takes time to develop a new vaccine and you don't have to be a layman to know that. It's good news that one now seems to be coming available, but as to whether or not I will have it, I'm not sure yet and that is my prerogative. How stupid of some on here to say that it will be compulsory!!!

No it doesn't apply to somebody notified by the app, Corby (presumably because when the legislation was drafted the app couldn't be relied on too much). But it is not restricted only to those who have received a positive diagnosis:

============
Requirements on person notified of positive test for acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and close contacts of such persons

2.—(1) This regulation applies where an adult is notified, other than by means of the NHS Covid 19 smartphone app developed and operated by the Secretary of State, by a person specified in paragraph (4) that—

(a)they have—

(i)tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (“coronavirus”) pursuant to a test after 28th September 2020, or

(ii)had close contact after 28th September 2020 with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus;
-------------------
“close contact” means—
(a)having face-to-face contact with someone at a distance of less than 1 metre,
(b)spending more than 15 minutes within 2 metres of an individual,
(c)travelling in a car or other small vehicle with an individual or in close proximity to an individual on an aeroplane;
==============
Quite how it is determined (and by whom) that "close contact" as defined has occurred is anybody's guess.

Almost identical restrictions apply to those arriving from abroad, with many places on the "red" list having a much lower infection rate than England.

Bit worried about side effects
Britain has rid itself of a virus before now. Got rid of Thatcher didn't we.
