if for no discernible reason you could think of, you started losing
weight. I need to lose weight but am concerned that apart from
changing from white bread to brown wholemeal bread that i am indeed losing it.

Have you actually stepped on the scale to see if you have lost weight? The first question the drs are going to ask is how much?
I would suggest weighing yourself and monitor it for the next couple of weeks before contacting the drs.
Perhaps without realising it you have been consuming a bit less recently.

That's how I explain my recent weight loss, which I consider healthy.

don't have any scales, too frightened to see how much i actually weigh. i'm sure that if i get a doctors appointment they have them there. it just i can now see parts of me which have been hidden under the fat for so long...
Secret Eaters is a programme where they put cameras in peoples houses.

Before the cameras are installed they are asked to keep a food diary. They all ate much more than they wrote down without even realising it.

Hopkirk could be right.
I've lost a few lbs just in the last week. I really have no appetite when I'm on heavy duty painkillers.

I don't consciously feel like I've eaten less as I don't feel hungry. I was looking forward to my takeaway last night but after 3 mouthfuls, I couldn't eat any more.

Sometimes when you leave longer in between meals too you can lose weight.

If you collect it round the middle, that's where you'll lose it from first. Half a stone in a few weeks isn't drastic (I could lose that in 3 days) but if it continues, I would see your GP.
If you haven't got any scales buy a pair and start weighing yourself weekly.
How clothes fit can work as a weight loss monitor too.
Don't know how old you are emmie, but a lot of people do lose weight as they get older. My Grandparents did for example.
Could it be that you are shopping differently and not buying the usual snacks and treats?
Unexplained weightloss should always be investigated. Are you sure it's actual fat loss and not just a reduction in bloating from cutting out white bread?
You say you're feeling happier than you have in a long time. Could it be the absence of stress...you recently sorted some benefit/money issues, didn't you?
Cortisol can be a contributing factor in weight gain...and loss when there's less stress.

Diabetes? Feel tired, need to drink more than usual? Might be worth getting your blood sugar tested.
WouldI be I be worried over weight loss given all the information that you have given ?...No.....I wouldn't.
Would I be worried if I were you ? Yes I would because you are who you are. I presume you live alone, your husband died of malignant disease and more importantly I have followed your health history for over a decade and the investigations that have ensued.
You will seek medical advice and you will worry.
My opinion on medical grounds is that there is nothing to worry about given th information provided.
I think you should get a pair of scales and do what I do - I mark my weight and date, then perhaps I don't do that again for another while and do it again.

I think that the fact you have been moving about re your furniture, up and down stairs, going for your walk has prompted this weight lost. Enjoy it Ems. LOL

1luv i am 65...
Bite the bullet and get on the scales.
Probably too young for age related weight loss then emmie, my elderly relatives were much older.

will call GP later on, see what they can advise
Unexplained weight loss should always be investigated, but, it’s difficult when you don’t know how much weight you have lost, over what time period .
how much?
