When was the last time you saw a respiratory consultant Danny. .? I apologise for the divergence on the land thread, ( I’m sure he would not object )
Anne, never have.My surgery has specialist respiratory nurses and a doctor who specialises in respiratory conditions.
Excellent. So your support system is through GP surgery. Do you have many exacerbations? Colds/flu/ chest infections ?
2 or 3 a year is about average for me.
Thanks Sqad
The end result was a quadruple heart bypass and a year since there has been no improvement. Was sent to Royal Brompton a week back for a Myocardial Perfusion to see why no improvement. I now have to wait until 6th September for the result.
Anne ^that is chest infections haven't had flue for donkeys years.
Danny, there are some good online support groups you may like to have a look at. Do you have a* rescue pack*/at home for emergencies . Ie antibiotics and steroids. So if you know you have a chest infection there is no delay in treatment starting .
Anne, no rescue pack, but if I contact the surgery antibiotics and steroids are delivered within twentyfour hours.
I wish you well Danny. I won’t say improve, but each day can be a new challenge .
Thank you Anne.
I'm worried about our friend Theland.
Me too

My mum had emphysema - it didn't end well
I feel for him.
He'll be ok and back posting soon
He’s got a divine being looking after him. He’s been promoting him long enough. Time to collect his dividend I hope.
Hope ur well Theland.
// Theland was already on the site and posting, often when we are distressed logic goes out of the window. //

you get frightened and hope that someone will post
no that is OK just hang on a bit....

and boys and gurlz - a useful point
a finger oximeter ( 97 good 92 not so good)
is now as cheap as £5 ( ebay ) and I got an up market one ( pulse as well) for £20

technical - probably unsuitable for AB

Finger Tip Pulse Oximeter Blood Oxygen Saturation Monitor Spo2 Sensor Meter 2019- - - - £8.49

oh and .... with ventolin - it will initially decrease saturation as it increases shunt in the lung but the pt feels better as he is shifting more air (very very technical - amost uncertainly unsuitable for Ab - I only wrote it so that one perhaps one AB say in amazement - "how he kno wests pathophys?!")
// He’s got a divine being looking after him. He’s been promoting him blah blah blah you can guess the rest//

yup the eggheads at the New England Journal of Medicine ( a reputable journal I stress ) has been looking at that

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM200006223422513

fr'instance
//probably unsuitable for AB//

Yes, I dare say it is.
Nearly 24 hrs now. Poor old Theland.
