Hello, I need some help! I think I have a trapped nerve, my chest feels tight like I'm being squeezed and can't breathe in deeply, I feel like I'm struggling to breathe if I walk too quickly or go up the stairs. Also the area around my collar bone is sometimes really painful, but this comes and goes.

I've felt like this for over a week now - is it a trapped nerve and what can I do about it?

No it's not.

Do you get the pain at rest or only on movement?
Question Author
pain in collar bone - at rest
Tightness in the chest goes at rest...does it?
Question Author
no that's constant, just gets worse when I need to breathe more deeply
Could either be angina (unlikely) or pleuritic pain.

Go to A&E now, as you will need a chest x-ray and ECG.

Keep us informed.
Could also be a spontaneous pneumothorax, that is exactly how mine presented both times.
You need a chest x-ray to rule it out.

wow I'm really not sure its as serious as any of those! as I said, this has been going on for more than week and I'm only 24, but will get it checked out ASAP. Thanks for your advice, I'll let you know what happens.
Aged 24....not angina

daffy...doubt whether you could go a week with an untreated spontaneous pneumothorax.
I did sqad,I thought i'd pulled a muscle or had pleurisy again.Turned out my right lung had completely collapsed...like a deflated ballon!
It still periodically has air leaks but since the pleurectomy it can't fully collapse again. It still hurts like a bu@@er though.
