Every time I hear a politician say “Now let me be absolutely clear”, I can practically guarantee the next thing I hear is going to be a lie.

Wasn't it John Major who kept saying that? I don't like "Going forward"
Numerous ones:
'at the end of the day', 'we are where we are'. 'to cut a long story short'...

237SJ, they all seem to say it when they're trying to sound convincing - I've just heard one of them - that's what prompted the question.
" at the present moment in time". "You know" interspersed in every sentence
The awful one to my mind is "to be perfectly honest with you".
I find 'Listen' to be the most condescending thing anyone can say in any sort of debate / discussion.
"part and parcel of..."
Or when you are talking or complaining about something and the person says "Can I stop you there?"
The military order "Enjoy" when serving food.....hate it......
"with respect..."

Every sentence starting with "so"- seems to be compulsory for anyone being interviewed on Radio 4 , particularly on Money Box and/or when trying to defend poor service/performance.

"I'm not racist but..."
"Sorry to keep you waiting" when you`ve been waiting about 30 seconds.
When I ring BT to complain about nuisance calls and they say "not you again"
To the moon and back
it's reem and other Essex talk
also it's your round lol x
"we're going to smash it".....
"your call is important to us... your call will be answered as soon as possible"
In restaurants when you make a perfectly reasonable request, like a standard drink and meal from the menu and the waiter says 'That's no problem at all!' Well, thank you so much.
and double phrases that were nearly identical as Tony Bliar and Gordie Broon used to drum up - long-winded IMO as well as being verbless sentences and sound-bite plays....examples being 'Tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime,' or 'British jobs for British workers'....
"hard working families" -who would say they weren't?
