Wednesday. It's cloudy again, but we are told it's going to be nice and sunny, but we've heard that before. We shall see. I've got a bit of running around to do today, so some sunshine would be an asset.

We've just been told there is a possibility the the Korean war may finally come an end. Won't that be nice!

Have a happy day everyone.

Good morning boaty, hows your health?
Question Author
Morning David. Seems to be good today. I'd like top get some weeding done, I want to get the pressure washer out too.

How are you this morning?
Morning all from Chengdu, where it is nearly lunchtime.

Sunny and warm here - but I'm stuck in a conference room.

Would be fantastic if the Korean war could finally declare and end to war.

Aging nicely thank you. Morning Kidas. I agree about the Korean situation. We can all hope.
Question Author
Morning kidas. Welcome to the GMEB thread.

May I ask where Chengdu is?

It would make the world just a little bit safe if the Korean war did finally come to an end.
Question Author
Nice one David. My philosophy is Growing old is compulsory. Growing up is optional.
Capital of Sichuan Province, China.
Home of the Giant Panda.

But I'm stuck in a conference hall listening to a series of presentations about chemistry and tail gases.

Have the wonderful pleasure of being a chairman this afternoon, and then having the honour of picking a winner from a hat containing business cards of all the delegates.

And they say business travel is glamorous...
Question Author
thanks for that. I had a feeling it was over there somewhere. I used to try and get out of such events if I could.
Apologies, the internet is a bit patchy, and I have to use a VPN, but Yes, WBM, I can understand that. I dislike the travel and time zones.

Having said that, I like China, and usually can meet a lot of new people. This one is less good, because it is not my primary area.

But it's pleasant here - around 27° and sunny, but not too humid. Tomorrow, when I have a day off it is scheduled to rain, so not sure whether to stay in the hotel or go out and see the Pandas.

Then it's back to the UK via Hong Kong on Friday,getting back early on Saturday.
Question Author
Sounds good. I've never been to China. I'd like to. The nearest I got was Malaysia, back in the sixties.
Question Author
Not quite right. I was in Hong Kong for a wee while. Once again in the 60s
But HK was not a Chinese territory then - it was thoroughly British, with Chinese influence. Nowadays it's completely Chinese.

I never visited before the Brits handed it back. What was it like?
Talk later - have to go off to lunch now...
Question Author
That's right. It was just as crowded, our job was to watch for illegal immigrants trying to sneak across from China. I don't think I've seen anywhere else as crowded!
Question Author
Enjoy your lunch. :o}
Selamat pagi burung awal! I 'think' this is the Malay version of the thread title (hope it is anyway).

Hi Boaty, David and Kidas. It heralds the last day of our holiday here in KL and elsewhere.
Question Author
Morning arrods.
Terima kasih kawan

I hope you're going to bring the good weather with you!
Question Author
burung awal pagi yang baik Is the literal translation but a very good effort!

Selamat pagi burung awal is good morning bird early. Near enough! :o}

That's the plan Boaty - nothing worse than returning home to a soggy UK.

Not sure what happened to the rest of my post. Meant to say just doing the final packing and trying to find space for the umpteen pairs of shoes OH has acquired. (Imelda Marcos - Huh!). Getting picked up at a not unreasonable 06.30 and then it's near 14 hours in the air back home. Shouldn't complain as we've had a wonderful time here.

Out tonight for a farewell dinner with the friends we've made via our son.

Enjoy the day.
Question Author
Excellent plan to my way of thinking! :o}

We were promised sunshine today, wall to wall cloud again!
