6% of Labour supporters polled voted for a non-existent candidate for Party Leader. Does this tell us anything about their voters?

The question is surely how deeply embedded in the mind-set of their supporters lies a deeply engrained Marxist view of history that can never be dislodged by any sense of global or economic realism? To me they are securely locked in the past and will never change. How then can Labour ever hope to win power unless they do a Blair aberration in order to persuade...

Perhaps it tells us that an astonishing 94% of Labour voters haven't learned not to take polls seriously these days?

It was Stewart Lewis for the benefit of any AB labour supporters.
No.
Which phone box are we holding the next meeting in?
We didn't like the other four so we voted for the fishy one.
It tells us how a "None of the above" option is craved by so many voters when presented with a bum list. I wonder how it would have turned out at the last General Election.
I think Stewart Lewis sounds like an ideal leader.
Walter Plinge not standing?
Stewart Lewis, - he's my man!

May I point out that Stephen Hawkins voted Labour in the last election.

I doubt he was in the 6%.
What relevance has this poll to those who actually qualify to vote in the election process?

Couldn't tell you, 7up. I didn't commission it, tha knows.
Who is Stewart Lewis and why was he included?
What is the point of a 'red herring' ?
And why are you surprised that some people supported him?
If there's an option on a multiple choice form some people will always choose it

If you say so, ichi. I can assure you that if UKIP were allowed to vote for a leader, we would be sufficiently 'clued up' to remember 4 contenders.
It was IPSOS MORI who got the names wrong Svejk
As I said before if you put x options on an official list you can guarantee that they'll all get votes
Now you come to mention UKIP tho I do hope they do employ the same inexplicable tactic with them
Could be amusing :-)

Ipsos Mori aren't that stupid, ichi, it was a deliberate red herring to gauge the mentality of Labour voters. Worked too.
(I expect whoever commissioned the poll included it. Stewart Lewis's mother perhaps)
Svejk, you were the one that posted the question and hinted that some people who were polled by Ipsos MORI - and bear zero relevance to those who will actually be allowed to vote in the election - are stupid because they did not know who were genuine candidates.
