He has pledged to reduce unskilled immigration as, he says, it puts a strain on public services and holds down wages.

Surely this will appeal to traditional Labour voters won't it?

Particularly in light of idiot-in-chief Abbott promising unfettered immigration from any toilet in the world.

riscagirl, what to you think of Corbyn and what he's done to Labour?
Wilson 1966 - 97
Thatcher 1983 - 144
Thatcher 1987 - 100
Blair 1997 - 179
JDm thanks for that.I hope you are correct with your prediction.
ToraToraTora Thanks for a sensible question amongst some quite worrying remarks. I think both BJ and Corbyn have taken their parties in huge swerves to the extreme. Corbyn comes over as more approachable and at least someone who has some idea about normal people. He does not indulge in the ghastly name calling and privileged Latin banter of BJ and is more measured in his manner. Cf that awful afternoon in HC. I don’t think he is the right leader as he needs to be more clear. I understand why he is not committing but and wonder sometimes whether this is a very clever strategy.... but I’m not sure. I wouldn’t vote for him. A choice between the two? I’d vote Corbyn holding my nose. Fortunately I have a better choice now and this is how it should be. I can vote for a tried and tested MP who works hard for her constituents and who is honest in her actions.
There’s a strange anomaly going on here. Labour supporters continually bemoan what they see as the failings of Conservatives, but with one exception, none tell us exactly why they’re voting Labour this time around. That one exception was diddlydoo who maintains that she is voting Labour because she is in possession of a social conscience – a strange claim indeed when you consider that, given the opportunity, Corbyn & Co will alienate business which will not only discourage investment from abroad but will ultimately put the working man out of work – hence making both him and the country poorer. Social conscience? I think not.

Can anyone else explain why they are voting Labour – and saying ‘Because they’re not the Conservatives’ is no explanation. Over to you.
Jackdaw33, Tora

I reckon the Tories will win the most seats, but there will not be a 100 majority. They may not get any majority, a hung parliament was my early prediction.

This was my guess (but it was before the Remain pact and Farage standing down in 317 seats).

Conservative - 297 (-20)
Labour - 278 (+16) includes Speaker.
LibDem - 14 (+2)
SNP - 38 (+3)
Plaid 3 (-1)
DUP 7 (-3)
Sinn Fein - 8 (+1)
SDLP - 3 (+2)
Independent - 1 (-)
Green - 1 (-)
Brexit Party - 0 (-)
UKIP - 0 (-)
Change UK - 0 (-)
yes gromit your prediction is well known. I'm staying out of the prediction game this time. Obviously I hope for a decent Tory Majority but we'll see.
I can’t see many (if any) of the 13 Scottish Conservative MPs keeping their seats.
I know this country doesn't have much of a record of violent protest over politics (?) BUT a minority Corbyn government propped up by the LibDems (anti-Brexit) & SNP (anti-UK) might trigger some ugly scenes.
I am reminded of the famous amusing Daily Express headline from the 1945 General Election which Labour won by a landslide. The Attlee Government brought us the NHS, amongst other things.

for a non Labour supporter gromit you don't arf stick up for them a lot.
The whole point of this election is to change the complexion of the House of Commons in order to get Brexit passed. I don’t think that will happen. The paralysis will continue.
TTT, I think Gromit is a Labour mole.
Change the bleedin record Tora.

Not supporting the Tories does not make me a Labour supporter. I am predicting Labour won’t win the election. But talk of a 100 seat majority for Boris is laughable, and I’m pmsl.
//a minority Corbyn government propped up by the LibDems (anti-Brexit) & SNP (anti-UK) might trigger some ugly scenes. //

That doesn't bear thinking of, dave. :o/
IF there are any disgruntled Labour voters prepared to swap their vote, the more likely lucky recipients would be the LidDems. The Tories would be the last choice.
Gromit, That makes no sense whatsoever. It's highly unlikely that anyone who voted leave in the referendum - of whatever political persuasion - would vote LibDem.
gromit: "Change the bleedin record Tora. " - all you do is criticise the Tories and defend Labour, what am I supposed to think? How are you going to vote?
"IF there are any disgruntled Labour voters prepared to swap their vote, the more likely lucky recipients would be the LidDems. The Tories would be the last choice. " - not if they are brexiteers.
Two of our close friends - staunch Labour voters from a mining area in South Yorkshire, now retired, are now going to vote for Boris. I never would have expected that ever to happen - they were so commited to the labour party.
