I would probably do B.
I am not a boring speaker so I've never been in that situation.
It's not happened to me before but if it did then I would assume that what I've got to say might only be interesting to me and join in with the rest of the conversation. I certainly wouldn't throw a childish hissy fit ala your option C.
You need to capture their attention in the first twenty seconds, Weecalf. A water pistol often works.

People drift off when other people talk I do it myself.
sneak out for a fag, by that time nobody will notice
You do it yourself, yet you throw a wobbly when someone does it to you?
I drift off and fall asleep when I am talking......actually I have seen this done, when an economics lecturer fell asleep, sitting on the desk, as a conversation cascaded around a hall of 100 folk.

Of course I do .People learn if they listen ,if they talk they only repeat what they know ....So are you listening
Well you have mt attent...................... I wonder if RedHelen has bit yet ....
according to one theory, he became the under active deviant of the group which is quite unusual.
It depends on your 'audience'... if I'm chatting in a group of friends then conversations go all over the place, plus I don't think a group of friends chatting constitutes an 'audience'! If I'm giving a presentation/training a group of people then I make it as interesting and as relevant to their jobs as possible.
Can't say that's ever happened to me either. I put my teacher head on.
i shout at people who don't listen to me (but then i teach medical students who need a good wake up call every now and then!) x

Problem is ,it would sound rude to say" Are you listening or am I just wasting my time trying to educate you shower " or summit like that.
Keep your content light - a joke or two will help.
I would end the conversation with '.................or not..........'

Another thing that annoys .You are having a conversation with some one .Their phone rings they answer it and leave you standing there .Do you walk off .wait till they are finished .or .....Not every call is of great interest to the whole of society .Would the proper thing to do it excuse themselves and tell the caller they are in conversation and unless its very important could the call sometime tomorrow
