As I was out last night, my husband went to the local chippie and bought himself a large cod, medium chips and mushy peas. He also had a can of coke.

He has had to get up three times in the night and has had diarrhoea, so he's feeling a bit sorry for himself this morning.

Now, we rarely eat fatty, greasy food and he takes statins for high cholesterol.

Has he just had some kind of reaction to the fat and grease he ate, when I wasn't looking and/or there to stop him?

It might teach him to spend it more wisely, Kerosene.
Why do you think my missus gives me none? .... Or pocket money!
Tilley for God's sake of the guy fancied Fish and Chips for once with you away?.Why not? It is worth a night of diarhoea.

No harm don"t be so obsessive.

Sqad, don't be so grumpy!

...............and I would have thought that you, of all people on here, would be able to spell diarrhoea.
LOL...ah! Tilley my love, you spotted my deliberate mistake......;-)

Poor bugger fancied Fish Chips and Mushies whilst the " old lady" was away and found himself the centre of an AB thread.

I know, Sqad. He has a terrible life. Nag, nag, nag all day long.

I spotted your other deliberate mistakes as well but I'll keep quiet about that.

It was actually a genuine enquiry about statins. It was not an opportunity for me to show how controlling I am.
Tilly..........;-)

A good bit of gastro-enteritis is a good way to lose weight, but I think your OH has recovered too quickly to see the benefit.
Question Author
Yes, he's still slightly overweight.
It could also have been a billion and one other causes for a bit of food poisoning picked up from virtually any surface that he touched!

You cant blame the fish and chips just because you weren't happy about him having a naughty treat!

Meanie!!!
If I ate a large cod, medium chips, mushy peas and washed it down with a can of coke I would feel really ill even if the fish wash fresh.
It's not food poisoning, he's have been vomiting.

Now you're telling me off, Ratter. First Sqad, then you.

All I know is, I didn't have fish and chips and mushy peas and I didn't have diarrhoea, either.
Upset stomachs aren't necessarily caused by bad food. All it takes is someone who hasn't washed their hands properly before touching the food ...... after, say, going to the loo.

Sorry.... bit early in the morning .... but it's true. Bad hygiene can cause big problems.
Unlikely to be a problem on deep fat fried food Naomi.
But Tilly, you also didnt touch every surface that he touched either, did you wash your hands afterwards!! did you really? did he touch that handle an hour after you, after the germs multiplied!!

Are you sure you are not to blame!!?? mmmmm
I wouldn't be so sure, Hopkirk, and apart from that it doesn't account for the container the food was put into. When hands are unclean, everything they touch is polluted and that pollution is transferred to anyone else who comes into contact with it.
Question Author
I reckon it was the newspaper they were wrapped in.
Possibly the mushy peas, but I still don't think deep fat fried fish and chips are likely to be the cause.

If the fish was off he would know, surely.
