Not a very nice thing to talk about but......... my son has been getting tummy aches......going to the loo and leaving a very smelly odour in the bathroom. Ive asked him if he is constipated or loose and he says his poohs are normal. What could be causing the tummy ache and nasty smell?

Is there a doctor in the house?
You'll have to ask him what he's been eating and drinking.
"tummy aches?" How old is he?. How long have these"tummy aches" been present. Are they aching or stabbing? Where in the "tummy" are they? Is he nauseous? Too many unanswered questions.
Is he 13 or 19 or somewhere in the middle?
Does he scrub the loo after he's been? If not, then it is probably solid. Is he at school/college? Is he being bullied?

He might be allergic to something.

Boys stink...

Honestly...if his bowels are working as usual, then it's just down to the fact of 'boys'
Like the girls don't :-D
Depends on the odour.... ask him about the colour in case its dark or black old blood in poo is very smelly
OG, girls glow, boys and men sweat :) (nice natural aroma imo)

Ummm is right, boys do stink, I wear a white suit and a mask when I enter their room.
According to that looney "Dr" Gillian McKeith your poo shouldn't smell and if it does it is down to your diet. Mind you, she is a bit of a nutter.

when i say stink i mean STINK!!
sqad He is 14 next week and has been having tummy aches (on and off) for the last week. The pain is on the left side of his tummy. hope this helps
Pain for over 7 days - see a doctor.
OK if he is well in himself, eating well, not vomiting, then i would suggest that this is dietary.

Monitor the situation.
Could he be drinking Guinness?
Must be your cooking ilovemarkb ;-)
Try less veg, more junk food. And lots of beer.
Left side as you face him or his left side? your left side could be appendix B.

huh!! the cheek of it old geezer!!! LOL yes sqad there been no vomiting etc thanks for all the other interesting answers.
Hi ilovemarkb, maybe it is time to pop your son off to see your GP. It has gone on long enough for you to be concerned . Most young men do not inspect their poo for changes . Take him along for peace of mind for the both of you . x
keep a box of matches in the loo and tell him to light one when he's finished (burns up noxious smells).

As for the medical aspect, I'd probably be seeing a doctor too, though it does sound dietary. Is he eating anything new?

he eats too many sweets!
