Hi, I hope i don't sound mad but I have been hearing voices, I'll explain. Last night I was a sleep lying on my right hand side when a l was woken by a giggle which sounded like it was being loudly whispered in my right ear. It really freaked me out. I managed to get back to sleep and it happened again but this time it was the word 'right' in a determined tone (female). that really upset me. the night before the same thing had happened but the noise was a like a knock on the door. I don't think it was a dream as i can't remember dreaming at the time and these nosies have woken me from deep sleep. I remember this happening once or twice when I was in my teens (I'm 26). Am I going mad or is it a dream thing or a medical thing. Sorry for rambling on.

it could be a spirit playing with you ask them who they are or tell them to clear off you dont want to talk to them.

unless you're hearing someone outside your window etc it does seem as if you're dreaming although you can't always remember it when you wake.There are a few stages of sleep and it's likely you're not in as 'deep a sleep' as you think. I wouldn't worry too much unless it gets so frequent that you are hardly sleeping etc and then i'd prob go to see a GP cos you'll wear yourself out!! Other things to help you sleep better at night.....don't watch tv immediately before falling asleep cos you need to relax and switch off before getting a good nights sleep and also don't eat much before going to bed as this has been shown to disturb sleep patterns. Maybe run yourself a nice bubble bath tonight, try to relax and then see if the same thing happens again.


If you are visited then you need to deal with why you are,you ought to go to somewhere either a spiritualist church or similiar type of crystal shop,you can either learn to enhance what you hear or tell them to leave,its up to you,its not so bad when you get used to it.
Hynopompic Hallucinations can be experienced on waking, Hypnogogic on falling to sleep, these are experienced by people without any sinister cause, if they are very frequent though you may want to check out sleep disturbance info. Good Luck

It sounds to me like you are going to bed with lots of things on your mind. Perhaps you could make yourself a mug of Horlicks or whatever, then try some deep breathing before you nod off.

Thanks for your help, it's definatly not nosie coming from outside my door or window as it's like a loud wisper in my ear (I sleep alone). It has really freaked me out and have tried not to think of the paranormal aspect. To be honest I'm not looking forward to going to sleep tonight!

sorry meant to say, i've been very stressed at work and a few personel problems have played on my mind so I'll try de-stressing and hopfully that will work. Thanks again for your suggestions

i used to get this when i was a child im now 20.


everytime i went to bed i heard my name being shouted nastily in my ear but the voice was of my grandad who was still alive.


also during these weird voising my bed used to feel like it was spinning around but i think it was dreaming as this went on a least until i was 13

So it is as I suspected blue2 - lots of things on your mind!


Try not to think of paranormal things, it's probably just a load of old rubbish & you'll only frighten yourself even more. I know, I've done it myself before now, 'specially after watching scary films on TV!


Adding to what I suggested earlier, perhaps you could play some nice soft music whilst doing the deep breathing. I'm sure that will assist you in getting a better nights sleep.

Each sunday evening at 7 o clock (8 now the clocks have gome forward) we hear a knocking on our lounge window, we live in the vale of belvoir in Leicestershire and our lounge overlooks fields and countryside.


1st couple of times it happened I ran outside expecting to see someone there but there is never anyone. the last owner died, we heard she passed away in a nursing home near here but I recon she went here and is coming back to visit, we dont get concerned about it now as she/he/it does nothing else but knock on the windows for a couple of minutes then goes, the only problem we have is finding a babysitter of a Sunday evening

I get this and it is attributed to dreaming and disturbed sleep. I often talk in my sleep too and am aware of doing so, and sometimes not. I hear voices which is often only single words and it wakes me up as if there is someone in the room. It is worse when I am busy and stressed out and my sleep is poor anyway.

I don't believe it is attributed to spirits at all. My house is protected against spirits of any type and so i can 100 say it is physiological. Tackling the issue as to why you might be suffereing sleep disturbances would be wise.

To be fair, if it were a spirit it wouldn't be confined to when you were dozy at night; also if it were something more sinister, such as a pyshological problem, then also they would not be confined to night, you would hear them at random times.

relaxation is the key and not to worry about them is the other key.

Hey blue.. dont get scared .. its ok.. When you hear the voices again .. just clouse your eyes a say out LOUD.. go to the light .. and repeat that ok.. When spirits are hanging around its because they have not found there way to the light yet.. most are scared and feel lost.. some dont even really believe there dead.. so end less somebody demands them to go .. they seem to stay sometimes.. dont even ask how I know this hahah.. If you dont feel good with telling them to go to the light.. then try praying out loud.. that is if you pray... something like Our Father... Okie dokie.. hope I could help

Do you have any hearing problem as this could be a form of tinnitus.
I used to get hallucinations at bed-time, or I'd suddenly wake up and see things. Dead people mostly. Dead babies, actually. And spiders. MORBID! I hadn't been dreaming about these things, to my knowledge. Anyway, I told my doctor because I thought I was actually going properly fruity, and she laughed and told me it's just part of falling asleep when you've too much on your mind. The more you worry about it, the more it'll happen.

I wouldn't bother talking to it. Talking to the voices is what gets people locked away ;)
I can't believe some people, they might as well have gone whooooooogh at you. As I posted earlier Hypnogogic & Hypnopompic hallucinations are normal things that people can experience either waking or going to sleep, usually, as smudge picked up instantly, when we have an active mind, or are exhausted or thinking alot. Don't start thinking even more things cos that won't help. Good luck & good night.

Hi Ya, this happened to me a couple of times, infact quite often. On one occassion I was actually woke up by my Dads voice saying my name quite firmly. It freaked me out, my dad is alive, but I had to ring to make sure he was ok, which he was.


I think it is definately a sleep thing. Your subconscious can do many many things to you. I even remember being awake, but still dreaming, jumping out of the bed and watching an nonexsistent monster spider crawl up the bed) to my hubbys amusement. Again, a sleep disorder, I've never known anyone to record a ghost sighting of a spider, ha ha.

Thanks again for your suggestions, Smudge in partictular, and also thanks for not thinking I'm going mad! It didn't happen last night, although I had been down the pub and kinda zonked out as soon as I got in! I'd rather not think it's anything spooky and as there have been so many things stressing me out it's logical that that is the answer! Now the question is, how do I de-stress!!! just kidding, with Easter break coming up hopefully things will calm down and I'll find it easier to relax. My first time with AB has been really cool, cheers :o)
