My niece has been in incredible pain for the last 10 days following her kidney & pancreas transplant. She was screaming the ward down on Friday and the surgeon was worried that one of the organs was being rejected. They took her back into theatre and when they opened her up both organs were fine but the surgeon was concerned about her appendix. They removed her appendix and when she came round on the ward the pain was gone - It just seems like one thing after another but she is rallying again bless her

granny, thanks for the update - your poor niece, I believe appendicitis is evilly painful. Wish her well from us ♥
I am sorry to hear she had so much pain, and had to have her appendix out. Hopefully she will now be able to fully recover. My thoughts and prayers are with her.xx
Poor thing. I am so glad that they managed to remove her appendix and the pain. Hope it continues to go alright for her and that she continues to thrive.
glad to hear that.....fingers crossed!
Hope her recovery is speedy.
Wishing your niece a speedy recovery granny.
They opened her up again? I thought that they could check via ultrasound if things like that were in place. Did they take out the appendix at the same time or wake her up and then do it? They can get into trouble if they do something without your permission.

I did not know that you could transplant just a pancreas. I thought you had to have a liver one as well.

Thank you all She is a little fighter and is so determined - this further op has just put her back a bit but I'm so pleased that they found out it was the appendix in good time.
bless her granny, really hope all goes well from now on!...........

They took her into theatre to determine what was causing the pain - I assume that they had her permission - but even if they didn't I'm sure that it wouldn't have been a problem as to leave the appendix in place could have proved very dangerous.

She has previously had a kidney transplant - donated by her father but that was beginning to fail and they always said that a kidney and pancreas transplant was the best thing for her
