My stomach is turning already and the sheer thought of it....
I must be one of many who get into a state about such a visit :(

Oh my goodness, well done you! :-)

I had to go to bed after I had mine done... feeling very sorry for myself. I'm guessing you can't speak very well?
oh well done Bobbs.

No idea what sqad said up there ^ but no doubt he was taking the pee out of me as usual about my very real dentist phobia. Good luck for Wednesday too.
Just taken Mrs sqad to the dentist who is "ultra scared"....been seen and all is fine.

My argument is with the word "phobia".....it is not a phobia in my opinion.
Well done you! See, its not as bad as we think is it? But I'm just the same! Its a wonderful feeling when you walk out of the door isn't it! As if you've won the lottery .......... well something like that!!
Sqad, I can assure you that my phobia is very real, too :(
lol yes Ann,you actually feel quite giddy with relief don't you?
Now the really hard bit having to pay for it .....
My problem is not the pain, the needle, the sound of the awful drill - its gagging when the "debris" of the old filling falls in your mouth and gradually works its way to the back of your tongue ...........ugh, I could heave thinking about it! She tells me there is no need to swallow but its a natural reflex isn't it? Those devices which supposedly suck away all the bits just make me swallow all the more!
well done (smug) Bobbi - pat on the back well earned! :-)
fliptheswitch.....a Phobia is an irrational fear of something......there is nothing "irrational" in coming face to face with a bloke in a white coat and a drill in his hand.....that is "rational" fear and hence NOT a phobia.

BOO..I was NOT taking the pee out of you.

aww No BOO, he wasn't ,,,honestly. he was with the very word Phobia...that'a all, but it is a phobia when all said and done
I felt very 'girly' when the Dentist said
"You did exceptionally well"
My daughter didn't assist and had another Nurse to do it (just in case...lol)
thanks for all the comments and it is the hard part coming
I have to pay :-(((
My other great fear (which is just as bad) is them finding that I need an expensive procedure needed (like root canal work) which is not covered by the normal NHS treatment price of about £45 - Root Canal work here costs £200 which I just can't possibly afford so I always ask them to mackle it up which generally lasts quite a while, questioning the need for expensive work in the first place!.
Hey Bobbs, there's no one more childish than me at the dentists! Each time i go i consider myself THAT brave that I want a sticker at the end of the (torturous) visit!

Apologies then sqad, I assumed you were taking the micky considering our last conversation about dentists :-)

that's what I had done Ann,
Triggs, no infection I just saw a discoloration on my tooth

I know BOO, I walked on air coming out that Surgery..:-)
He came in early to see me but I don't know whether my daughter has told him "You better not have a full surgery" hahaha
What a difference a day makes..
Your wallet will be much lighter today then Bobbi!
Question Author
haven't paid as yet Ann
I think I should get ,ermmm staff discount...lol
Your not the only one in a state- the dentist will be feeling down in the mouth too.
You got a bargain for root canal there anne...cost me £500 about 2 months ago....... I have been known to hit dentists in the past ..involuntary I must add, when they have caused me pain...seems fair ?
Question Author
