and want to spend around 7000.
What car should i buy?

It depends on what you are lookig for. If you want to save money then something small and economical. Under 1400cc gets low Road tax and obviously your insurance would be lower.

If you wanted something a bit nicer then possibly a VW Golf GT TDi. Economical (40ish mpg) and also looks good.

Not being sarcastic but if that is all you use a car for 7000 would pay for a lot of taxis and on nice days you could just walk.

You could hire any car you want for longer trips, try all different cars when you hire one till you find the one you like.

This may be a bit off the wall but if you live in London and don't use the car much have you ever though of these guys:

They maintain a fleet of cars from Ferraris and Rolls Royces all the way down to Morris Minors.

You pay for a certain number of points and can book out cars. A Masserati for a weekend in August is obviously more points than an MGB for a Wednesday in February.

You dont have to pay for a cars upkeep and you get to play with some very nice cars

Just a thought
