I think it was wrong that the World Cup is being held in Qatar and every country taking part should be allowed to display their national flag inside the stadium but dressing up as Crusaders in a Muslim country has left me flabbergasted. Yes, St George is England's patron saint even though he wasn't English and never set foot in England but anyone who has a smidgen of understanding about the Crusades would realise that this costume is not appropriate at this world cup

Perlease!
I guess they were thinking it was a bit of fun. However, I'm thinking that perhaps the many and varied sensitivities of countries like Qatar render them inappropriate venues in future.
as suspected - most footy fans are bloomin' eejits!
the equivalent would be German fans coming here and dressing as Nazis. That would be a bit of fun too.
Footie fans don't think.
Yet we entertain Viking and Roman costumes here - but we're much more tolerant of course ;-)
Germans coming to England dressed as Nazis would know what they were doing, not sure English fans as crusaders would realise the significance.
Is there anything on Earth that isn't offensive to Muslims though?

A particularly joyless bunch from what I see.
Nazi's (well, jackbooted uniformed ones) never came here, so I'm not sure that's a good analogy.
Canary @ 11.20; "Footie fans don't think."

As aptly illustrated by at least 3 Welsh fans who, during the match v Iran just televised, were seen with young, hatless babies in their arms in 30degree heat.
"the equivalent would be German fans coming here and dressing as Nazis. That would be a bit of fun too."

Except it wouldn't be the equivalent.
I can just see TTT dressing up as St George whilst singin Rule Britannia, at Qatar.
Yet another reason these events must never be held in these countries again.

I see an Argentinean press team was 'approached' now, after the Danish the other day.
//the equivalent would be German fans coming here and dressing as Nazis. //

Well for starters its Germany that has problems with this more than us, just try wearing one in Germany or doing a 'Hitler' salute. In the slammer without your feet touching the ground.

And Prince Harry would certainly not bother!
It is insensitive, but as advised, the average football fan is unlikely to be versed in English foreign policy from a thousand years ago.

It's one more unsavory chapter in an unsavory business.

Bur to address the OP directly, the fans don't think.
No one had any issues with the geezer at the Argentina Saudi game. He was dressed up as a saracen ... complete with robes headdress and scimitar, which he was pictured with, in the daily papers, waving over his head. That's alright then.
up to a point, ZM

Well, sort of, jno but as they're Crown Dependencies and self-governing it's not quite the same.
Then again it was brilliantly "executed" by the Saudis.
Do you think that they will beheading into the next round?
