The joy of painting

This is an old programme but one I’ve just happened upon. For anyone who would like to have a go at painting - or even for those who already paint - it offers a lot of great techniques and advice - and it’s enjoyable. Just a little recommendation.

That’s good, atheist.... in my opinion. Hopefully Khandro will comment. As far as I’m aware he’s the only expert we have on AB.
Thank you , N. I await Khandro's view with bated breath! I must say that I now wish I hadn't posted it, as it was only done for the family. But many of us have a streak of show-offishness. Anyway, I have shared a bit of my private life now, which is better than remaining an aloof priggish criticiser. :-)
I love watching this programme .

Bob does create some pleasant scenes in the half hour allotted
You have shared that one before Atheist and I commented how well you seemed to have captured the character of the lady-I realise that's a daft comment as I never knew her but there's definitely character there.
Sorry for the repetition, Mamy. I did wonder if I'd done that. Did I post the portrait of the son?
Don't apologise, I don't think you did post another,no.
Beautiful treatment of the light atheist, have you thought of entering the Sky portrait artist competition.
Who gives a tsso if it would get past art tutors or not.

I did start a post about this programme not too long ago , with the same toffee nose responses :-)

I also remember Atheist posting the pictures of his "petanque chum" and mother. The thread is here:

By the way it's being aired on BBC 4 at @1930 hours , weekdays ,currently
That’s lovely atheist, I just love stuff that has character to it, doesn’t have to be a portrait, just some personality behind it.
Love it..not that it matters what I or anyone else think of it :)
Ah, it was Jean Luc's portrait I commented on - how did I get so mixed up.
Sorry if this inappropiate, but i used to like watching Rolf Harris back in the day. With his wall paintbrushes.
Mamyalynne, you're not mixed up, you also commented on the portrait of Jean-Luc's mother in Atheist's original thread - scroll up from the post that my earlier link takes you to.
Go for it - paint what you what - it's for your pleasure and those who are close to you. It's about enjoyment and a 'mental time out' to refresh the batteries.

Training, tutors, whatever - if you are interested. It's about inspiration, mine being three fold, two teachers at prep school and next one up - and summers spent in the St. Ives School of Art under the tutelage of one Leonard Fuller. Throw in a couple of pieces shown publicly - when I was 9 - and then in winning a significant Carnegie Prize at Uni, and I was away.

There's plenty of my drawings on the Art threads here - but what is driving me nuts is that I can't find an oil I made just to the west of St Ives, a place called Man's Head and I'm sure that I have a photo of it somewhere on AB or, even better, on my pics here! Some talent perhaps but, seriously, it's more about enthusiasm and relaxation!!! Go for it Naomi.
Here we are, one of my favourites in my time.....

DTC, I've been going for it for years - I'm the 'rock chick' you know. :o))

That said, with all due respect, had I painted that landscape it would have been better. Sorry. Just my opinion.

If it's any consolation your drawings put me to shame. I'm hopeless at stuff like that.
I don't think AB is ready for mine, finished (I think) today, the provisional title is, 'The Ecstatic Orgasm of St Teresa'.
Question Author
AB might not be, but .... ?
Which St Teresa, or one of your own musings?
