Does anybody watch The Joy of Painting, BBC Four, Monday to Thursday, 7.30 p.m.? It's a relaxing half-hour watching this artist create a landscape. He doesn't try to be a comedian, he just concentrates on his picture and explains what he is doing.

Gosh he is the most horrendous 'Artist' I've ever seen. His stuff looks like painting by nunbers.
I like portrait/landscape artist of the year.
You mean tje late, great Bob Ross? I didn't know it was on. Need to set the box to record this!
I love Bob Ross, (R.I.P.)
But then I'm just an ignorant scally, not a bit arty farty.
I used to watch him back in the 80's
early in the morning on bbc 2
after a night shift it was a fantastic way to relax and drop off to sleep
Love the programme , soliloquy

I have it set to record , in case I miss it

Nice relaxing half hour viewing
I like portrait artist of the year. I'd love to be able to paint.
and there in the distance maybe a small waterfall . if You feel like it after all it is your painting and perhaps a bit of snow on the tips of those trees if you want to
love it

I saw it once and didn't like his work at all, so didn't watch again.
Johnny - Me too! Come off night shift, Bob Ross and Theletubbies :-)
He does too many paintings with trees in them and his reflections are odd...
Long time since I watched Bob.
I'm seriously missing something here - his paintings are dreadful!

I think I could do better than that!
They might not go in a gallery but he did show how easy it can be to paint. Anyone with natural talent could have watched him and learnt how to make it better.
Anything that inspires others to try is good, today we have so much more access to other ways to learn.
/// his paintings are dreadful! ///

I've never seen the programme, but if that link is typical of his work, then I agree wholeheartedly - what's known in the trade as potboilers
What's a pot boiler?
There was a painting programme with a lady in the 70s or 80s but I can't remember her name. I used to love watching her.
APG -Whoever took that photo would appear not to have adjusted the focus on the camera

Anyway it would be a boring world if everybody had the same opinions
Nancy Kominsky did "Painting with Nancy".
