Catch 22 is an odd one of that there is no doubt but it is worth reading and rereading if you're that way inclined, think ive been through it half a dozen times, it gets better!
I can be odd with books, I've read Shogun so many times I'm on my FOURTH copy
I can quite happily re-read books and did so a lot as a child through necessity - I didn't have many and the mobile library didn't come often and I could only take 3 out at a time - didn't have much of a selection either :o(
My boys love reading and have loads of books guess I am compensating really but I've always encouraged them to read and am happy to supply the loads they get through and run to the library regularly too.
Oh, I LOVED Shogun ... I liked all the little words and phrases in it, and the way that you started to feel that Japanese customs and rituals were so worthwhile and important.
I didn't really get on with any other of James whotnot, Clavells?, books.
JJ - some good ideas there - i'll let you know how I get on - the last vampire books I read were my 11 year old's - he loves Darren Shan and I'd run out of things to read.
You lot need to join my internet book group - I won't post a link here (we don't need trolls), but anyone interested can just message me via the AB group on fbook.
< when I say "my" group I mean "the group of which I am a member" - it's a vibrant democracy not a dave controlled oligarchy > :+)
I've got The Undrowned Child (Michelle Lovric) in one hand, and What The Dog Saw (Malcolm Gladwell) dogeared on the bed, and my lappy on ... err, my lap. Glass of milk on the bedside table. Big pile of pillows. Bliss.
No you are not Jayne. You have pile of pillows, peace, mistress of your own destiny, book, milk, laptop .....
You just described this as bliss and you were right.
Catch 22 is one of the books that I'm going to get when I get my Kindle. I have a whole list of books I'm going to get actually. I can't wait.
On a similar note, I read Catcher in the Rye several years ago and couldn't make head no tail of it! Might try that one again to see if it makes more sense 2nd time round.
Loved the Testament of Gideon Mack and have just bought the author's (James Robertson) latest offering "And the Land Lay Still". Still on the pile of "to be read" as I'm really enjoying a James Patterson at the moment.
Grassy ... just remember that if I fall asleep, there's no one to close my book and tuck me in. If I fall asleep, I lose my page in the book, the lappy falls on the floor, and I drop the glass of milk in the bed, LOL, LOL.
