So far, I'v not seen many long tailed tits or nuthatches.
Must put extra bird food on the shopping list!
No whatsits?
Very rarely does a tit appear. We have 2 squadrons of sparrows, a quarrel of starlings, 2 doves, blackbirds, the occasional wren, Piggy the prosperous-looking pigeon and his 'friend' (he sees off the crows which try to invade) and the other day a cock pheasant appeared to clear-up the seeds dropped to the ground. Had blackcaps this Summer. At times the whole view is moving around. Just bought 'premium' fat-balls for their Xmas dinners!

I haven't had a house sparrow on the feeders for at least 7yrs. Starlings are pretty rare around here as well.
We had a thrush and a fieldfare in the garden today...at the same time. The blackbirds shooed them both off.

There seem to be more song thrushes around now, Tilly. I get a couple in my garden, but the blackbirds bully them :-(
Blackbirds are bullies. They don't even tolerate each other. They are very unsociable birds.
Thrushes are very rare in this garden.

Got my first siskin of the year this morning :-)
I have an abundance of birds..had to buy more seed today for on tables and hangers..apples for blackbirds..fat balls hanging up for the tits...

Blackcap and bullfinch also added to the list.
Had plenty of variety here too Melv, but just had a rare sight. A Sparrow Hawk came flashing in trying to take a victim as they were feeding. It failed because the feeder obviously inhibits it being able to manoeuvre, but an incredible sight. The speed it came in at was astonishing.

I've just had the same, Togo. An unsuccessful attack by am immature male. Luckily, he lurked around the garden for half an hour or so, giving great views. Magpies soon spotted him and shooed him away.
Sadly despite having loads of feed out and about we don't get that many birds about as we seem to have every cat in the area patrol our end of the street.

I've fastened a piece of 2x1 to my clothes pole and hung the feeders from it. I feed them with sunflower seeds and a fat balls.

Waxwings are back in my neck of the woods..yaayyy
Magpies eating bacon bits and scraps. blackbirds ,thrushes, hedge sparrows, tits, pigeons, starlings, resident robins ,couple wrens, Jays and squirrels competing for the monkey nuts. The jackdaws have disappeared and the wood pigeons no longer come .
I`ve got 4 bird feeders up and the birds have hardly shown any interest. I have noticed a robin trying to get to the peanuts so I put out the robin feeder that was completely ignored last year. Still no interest. The only interest is from the female blackbird who is getting through the miniature crab apples.

2 gold crests to be added to my garden list :-)
