Do they prefer to have other cats around, or will humans do anyway, or does it depend on what they grew up with?

patch was an only cat but was great mates with the cat from up the road,my mum would let patch out in the morning and say go get pig for his breakfast and sure enough the next time she opened the door they'd both be on the doorstep, i never ever heard them spit or hiss at each other. i think it does depend on the cat rather than the situation as like humans they either crave company of other cats or hate the sight of another. litter mates for example. well definatly off to bed cupar will be hogging the duvet.

lol yes it's a bit love/hate isn't it. I have a stray 'lesbian' we call her who comes around and is desperate to get in with the local crowd (mainly my tom Tom) but then she tries to beat him up, I don't get it.
Tom has had human company since birth and very quickly misses company I think, he becomes very affectionate after a spell on his own.
Cupar is a lovely name, is he a fifer? :)
Fabby name BTW xx
I have an outdoor poof of a cat -just cos he has been spoilt -he is the bairn lol
However my daughter had to land on us mid flit (aff tae Perth TF) -with house cats -they flitted yesterday and I still cant do upstairs -I am knacked with them.

In answer Marg o -Buddy my cat has become an outside cat but he knows theyre not there now so he is chilling a bit !

House cats -well there has to be two so they can play along with each other -they are sound -in saying that unbless you are in a dangerous place like she is now -the city centre -then I wouldnt have cats house bound -just my take !
Depends vert much on the cat. They are not pack animals like dogs so can be solitary - I had one who hated other cats and was very happy to be on her own. On the other hand I have usually had 2 or 3 (4 at one time) and the ones I have currently get along very well. They have the occasional tiff but they wash each other, play chase with each other and sleep together very happily.
morning Marg0, went off to bed last night and missed your reply, yes he is the wee cupar of fife. oh by the way patch and pig were'nt that ..aherm.. that way inclined, patch was just a total softy, and pig (so called because his tailed curled up over his back like a pigs) was a rough tough i dont like hugs sort of cat, he came for a fuss on his terms and if i ever grabbed a sly squeeze with him he would make the most horrible choking noises.
