I have just had about 30 baby guppies, I have been told I don't need to heat the holding tank, is that right and also do I need to put some vegitation in for them, and do I need to feed them on somthing special
Nice one. Yes you do need to heat the holding tank (whoever told you not to heat it should be shot)...you can buy "breeding traps" which float in the main aquarium without the babies escaping,
A bit of vegitation would be nice for them....lots of microscopic organisms live on plants which the baby fish will eat. Maybe a floating plant or two.
As for feeding....use your normal flake fish food but crunch it up so it's almost powder. Feed small amounts 3-4 times a day.
Thanks hammerman I do have a little nursery, one big enough for 2 mothers, Its very exciting for the first time seeing the babies being born. It's dificult knowing when to put them in, it was pure fluke we caught that one.
