Should I always buy Frontline from my Vet or is there a reputable company online? It is getting so expensive - 18.00 for three today.

I don't have a cat at the moment but I have dogs and I always buy the Frontline via Tesco and it works. Not called Frontline but it works just the same and so much cheaper.

Do you put the drops on the neck, and they work in the same way? I think they work differently, maybe someone could help !
If is not called Frontline then it isn't Frontline! You can get it online from VetMedic Pharmacy, Canine Chemist or several other online pet pharmacy sites. They can only sell the 'spot on' without prescription, you still need to get the spray with a prescription but you can buy this from them as well if your vet gives you a prescription.

lankeela I am very interested in buying Frontline at Vetmedic or one of the other online companies mentioned, , but I am worried about using something on my cat tht might not be distributed by the same manufacturer as the one I buy from the vet, and that it is a copy in some way ... how can you reassure me?
Try this link as well:

I have used this on my 17 yr old tomcat with excellent results. Ordered it on the Friday, turned up the next morning!
They would not be able to use the name if the product were not the same. It has only recently become available without prescription, and these online pharmacies obviously have lower overheads (and fewer BMW's to run) than vets.

If you are uncertain, why not email the companies direct and ask them.
I know that Frontline is expensive. I use it on my cats. You are obviously unsure about using anything else, but at least you know the product and it will give you peace of mind.

Yes Frontline is brilliant, I am just a bit worried that if I buy it online it might be a 'copy' of the original, although 99% of me is sure it is OK! Know what I mean?
Ive just looked at vet medic and they charge 23 ... from my vets for the same one is 21
Question Author
The Frontline I get for my cat is a pack of three pipettes, Spot On, they cost 18 at the Vet this week, and 8. at VedMedic, that's what made me wonder, but I'm sure they must be OK.
When my old dog was prescribed old-dog-pills for the rest of her life I sourced them online and was horrified by the mark up my vet was adding. I took the evidence to the vet (printed page from the website) to ask him to write a prescription and he offered to sell them to me a the same price as the website. I think they just think we wont find out.

You are convincing me by the minute ..
I use frontline on both my dogs. It says on the box that you can apply every month or every 2 months. I have always done every other month so a packet of 6 pippets last a year and I don't think that's expensive when you compare it to the bill of having to treat an infested house & pet. Frontline also cover ticks and that can be very pricey if your pet was to get an infection from the tick.
I would never use anything else and I don't believe that Tesco's Bob Martin flea pippets are just as good.

I agree, I would only use Frontline, but as I say I am a bit wary of buying it online. And also happy face, I only use it every six weeks or so, I really don't like the thought of it, and what it possibly does in the blood? But it's better than fleas ...
I don't like using spot on treatments, as it interferes with the fleas breeding cycle. I would rather use the Frontline spray, which you have to get from the vet as it is still prescription only. Although it says it will last three months, I have used it every month if necessary, if the dogs have been somewhere where there are rabbits or hedgehogs.

Also you can use Frontline on puppies and kittens from 2 weeks old.

If you are not sure, why not contact the manufacturers and ask if they supply Vet-Medic? I would say 100% that it is the same product. They are a very big online company and also have stalls at Crufts and Discover Dogs and their staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.
I've bought frontline drops from petfleas.co.uk (good name!!!) its the same as the one from the vets and half the price 30 for 12 instead of 30 for 6. very quick service too
Try Petmeds online - much cheaper, and good for Drontal worm tablets too. Both are genuine items at half the vet's price
