After reading several times in here about Advantage flea treatment I changed from the Frontline I had been using on my two cats every month for a couple of years. One of the cats never seemed to have any problems at all, but the other one kept getting sores and losing her hair, though I never actually saw any fleas on either of them. The one that seemed to have an allergy was also quite thin and i used drontal on here regularly,
I changed as I said almost 3 months ago to the Advantage pipets, what a difference! The one that always lost loads of her hair and used to get the sore spots like an allergy has in the space of those couple of months stopped having the sores, stopped losing her hair, really filled out and is looking quite chunky now and also has a lot better appetite and is looking really healthy,
Nothing has changed except the flea treatment.
I know people said that fleas can become resistant to frontline, but the other cat seemed fine with it and changing her treatment has not altered how she appears, it's only made a difference to the one that was suffering quite badly from the allergy and weight/hair loss.
Excellent anyway and thanks to all who put me onto Advantage,

I've been using advantage for about 8 months...for both Sally and Caspar. It has made a huge difference in the skin condition of both of them. Sally-as a lurcher-has very fine fur, with hardly any on her tummy. A year ago it was red and sore...she was constantly nibbling and scratching. That's great! I'm really pleased. I changed from Frontline to Advantage quite a while ago and found it much better. Frontline seemed good at first, but in my opinion, became less and less effective.
I don't use anything for fleas but have read some stories on the internet where the cats have had reactions like you have mentioned.

I am glad that you have something just now that is agreeing with them - it must be pretty toxic stuff.

I have to admit that I haven't wormed either of them. The vet said that being indoor cats they are unlikely to have problems.

If they get fleas I might just make up something like a sheep dip. If only!

Anyway I am off to reclaim my bed from the moggies.
