I have 2 cats. Sons ankles were covered in bites, which looked to me like flea bites. So as one of cats likes his bedroom to sleep in(a box not son's bed!) I hoovered all his room, sprayed flea spray everywhere, and did both cats with Frontline. Also sprayed rest of house with flea spray. Son didnt get any bites for a coupld of days but is now covered all over lower legs, and 2 on torso. They are driving him totally mad. It has to be fleas, cant see what else it could be. ( have thoroughly checked for bed bugs and mattress is clean).
So can I try the cats with Frontline again even though I only did them 2 weeks ago?

Any other suggestions much appreciated!! Poor sons legs look awful.

Well I'd put the cats on advocate personally. Eric's always used it and it's brilliant, no problems so far. (I know that one of boxy's cats had a bad reaction though). Don't know what to do about the house stuff, I think you can get some sort of bomb thing that clears them... Not sure though.
How about if you gave the house a really good vacuuming with a powerful vacumn cleaner.
we find frontline no longer works, i guess the fleas have got used to it
Take him to Nurse at your Doctors? If he's that bad he needs checking over, and she might identify bites.
If you really want to sort this you need to fork out at the vets for something that works. I also swear by Advocate. There's a lot of evidence that Frontline doesn't work well anymore and you've probably got another load of eggs hatched since your first clear out. I'd also say that none of the off-the-shelf flea sprays work either.

Advocate - have never tried that. Am going to take son to doctor anyway just for a second opinion. Yep have hoovere everywhere today, even taken all cushions off sofa. Maybe you're right - they have become immune to the Frontline?
Hi Smow, Have you groomed your cats and checked if they have fleas (brown specs like coal dust, if so put them on a damp tissue and if these specs leave brown smudges its fleas) - if not and your cats are clear, chances are there are probably a few lurking in the bedroom, they wont bite your cat but will bite your son, they cant live off human blood though. Good luck.
I seem to remember from somewhere that you could get some sort of candle that the smoke from it kills fleas.
Smowball are you sure that it isn't just gnat bites ? gnats are very prevalent at this time of year - your lower leg /ankles stick out under the sheets and that's what they attack .
Please don't put more Frontline on themit's too soon.A flea bomb should clear the fleas,i bought one from Amazon for a friend's flea problem,it did the trick.
Smow, Advocate didn't suit my guys (and yes, fleas are getting immune to Frontline). We swear by Stronghold now, it deals with some of the worms as well.

One of my old cats had fleas, they didn't appear until she left - they lie in the carpet waiting for warm blood to walk by, then they hatch and jump.

Make sure you hoover well under the front edge of all the chairs and sofas - that's where ours were lurking.

Don't dose the cats again, it's much too soon, and the fleas aren't on the cats - they've dropped off and laid eggs, it's the new fleas which are biting your son.
Smow, Advocate for your cats, R.I.P. spray for your home and make sure you spray it everywhere. No good getting cats clear when fleas and eggs are in carpets, cushions etc. It could take 2/3 weeks until you've broken the cycle. And never waste your money on FL again.
Just for your son's sake get the bites checked out. Few years ago when we moved into our house my husband ended up with blood poisoning from flea bites - the previous owner had three cats - but they didn't bite anyone else, strangely.
They probably did, it was just nobody else reacted to them.
nice warthog, sheena!
Thank you Boxtops!
RIP or Indorex spray for house...effects last 6-12 months.And-hoover,hoover,hoover.
I think the weather has caused an explosion of the horrors.
It sounds like flea bites, get a Pest controller in to treat the whole property, often works out cheaper but make sure the treatment is guaranteed.
You sure its not midge bites? neither of our dogs have fleas bt we are being bitten and its turned out to be midges, lower legs and torso-which ever bit they cna get easy access to,to nipx
Does your son leave his bedroom window open with the light on? sounds more like midges than cat fleas. With this hot weather midges just love to get in the room when the lights are on. Try using jungle juice anti-bug spray on his lower torso & legs.
