Jay? (bit smaller than a dove though)
I see those here in the park several times a year. They move fast...almost darting in flight. Blink and it's gone.
Agree it sounds like a Jay. Used to have one visit the garden regularly but haven't seen it for a couple of years now.
We get quite a few of them around here. I`ve seen them much more than I did when I lived in the country.

hey yeah foo joke coming up
pair a jays - wht do you call a pair of jays
answer jay jay
ay thenk yew
Since they're related, I always think of jays as magpies that can afford a colour licence.
I have them in my garden and they are an absolute menace in the spring when they raid nests to eat the chicks and eggs.
It is entertaining watching them bury their acorns, though
I last saw a jay four years ago in the local park, never seen one since. They are a member of the magpie family.

They are members of the Crow Family (Corvids)
They are actually quite common but tend to stay in the trees rather than getting out and about like magpies and crows.
yes, they are like wrens, many more around than are commonly seen.
I've got a Jay living in my house with me:-)
That's nice, ladybirder. Does he talk? Do you ruffle his feathers? Does he throw his seed out of his cage :D
LOL Barry. He's ruffling my feathers this morning. He's grizzling because he wants to got for a walk but I can't take him until my online grocery shop has been delivered. Could have another hour of this if they don't hurry up.
:D
